Hello all,

I've been vaping for nearly 8 months now. Back in October 2015, I started using e-liquid with 3 mg of nicotine in it. I have never used cigarettes, cigars, or anything similar, nor have I ever vaped anything with a nic level higher than 3 mg. Long story short, I had a bad virus for the past couple weeks, and my desire to vape went down noticeably. 4 days ago, I quit vaping completely and have not touched my mods since (I have an X Cube 2 with an rda, and an evic-vt with a tank). I've had a couple minor urges to vape since, but nothing crazy. I've also experienced some minor withdrawals (fatigue, increased appetite, etc.) I have been seriously considering dropping the vape thing entirely, but at the same time, I want to continue, mainly because I've gotten used to it and because a number of my friends do it. My question is if I start using nicotine again, will I be able to stop again if I need to? It was pretty easy for me to quit this time, but I'm nervous that if I take it up again, I may get addicted, or begin to experience serious withdrawals. I've never chain vaped, but I did vape daily, usually in the mornings and evenings. I would start out by taking 6-7 hits, and then I would back down to a hit about every 10 minutes. I haven't taken a single hit since Saturday, and I feel normal, aside from the minor withdrawals. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

My advice to you my friend would be to get a liquid what contains no nicotine.
The idea is to slowly reduce the strength till you are using 0% nicotine but hey it is worth a shot dude.
I myself haven't ever experienced any withrawal with vaping but then again I don't seem to get withdrawals from any sort of drug.
Vaping is not met as a smoking substitute so it doesn't matter if you've ever been a smoker. I know a few people who vape for pure pleasure of it, it can take some time an there is a neck to it but if you ever increase the nicotine strength do not go over 11 as it can burn out the coil.
Good luck :)

If you WANT to stay quit, then stay quit. If you WANT to vape, then that is your choice. I am curious why you vaped with 3mg nicotine if you'd never used any nicotine products before vaping? Why not 0mg nicotine?

Nicotine is addictive regardless of the form. More so for some people than for others.
Vaping is a hobby for some, an alternative to smoking for others, etc.
Nobody can tell you if you'll be able to stop again if you start again.

You are exactly right it's what I am thinking to, it's basically pointless vaping with nicotine content. No wonder you felt so rubbish, it'd be like my very first fact.

No offence but use your common sense 3mg of nicotine pointless.

The Great Nicotine Myth

If you want to vape, vape, if you don't, don't. As of now, there aren't any known harms from vaping if you're otherwise healthy. As you found for youself, being a never smoker, you haven't developed an addiction to nicotine, not in the way people generally think of addiction. You may like it, and you may be considering picking it up again, but that is a different thing altogether.

@Skold who told you higher mg nicotine would damage your coils?

Where are you getting your information from? There are actually a number of reasons why someone might choose to use nicotine. It's a mild stimulant and at the same time a relaxing agent, commonly allowing people to focus. It is an appetite suppressant. It has also shown potential in maintaining mental acuity, although studies are still being done to understand this and its potential to fend off alzheimer's and parkinson's.

Sorry for flying off handle, I sometimes misunderstand things when I am anxious.
I totally agree with you an severe apologies, I can clearly state that it does help neurologically. Always has for me, but hey nicotine on its own without the tar an carbon monoxide greatest invention ever. Vaping is a great pleasure of mine, so much so I go through two 4.5ml tanks a day

Hey, it's ok, we've all be force fed the "facts" for decades of how nicotine is more addictive than (other stuff), etc. but the truth is, until relatively recently nicotine was always studied as part of tobacco smoke.

I can condense a few things for you. There haven't been any official studies on the addictive qualities of nicotine by itself. However, there have been studies using pure nicotine with non-smokers, looking at it's effectiveness in treating neurological conditions. Those studies, while not dealing directly with nicotine addiction, discuss the fact that none of the participants developed a dependency.

As to the OP's "withdrawal" symptoms, they make sense. Stop taking an appetite suppressing stimulant and you will likely feel fatigued and hungry.
