Should I switch to tanks?

Hey guys, I've been vaping for a while now, and have been very happy dripping with a 306 atty for 95% of the time. I recently ordered a new mod, and maybe it's just me but while I'm waiting to get something in the mail I watch and read reviews about it non stop. All the reviewers I keep watching are using tanks. The mod is an MVP btw. The thought of getting a different type of mod than I've been using (for a looong time) has me wondering if I'm missing out on something by dripping.

This isn't meant to be a drip vs tank thread, but I've never had a nice tank, and am wondering why all the big reviewers seem to favor them. Do I need to get with the times and spring for a tank? If so, which would be a good choice for the MVP?

As I understand the mod comes with 2 iclears, so I guess that will give me a pretty good idea whether or not I'm gonna like the tank system. If anyone has the iclears from itaste, how do they compare to other tanks? There are so many to choose from.

I typically prefer standard resistance 306 attys, and I guess I've strayed away from tanks thus far because the addition of a tank seems like it would make carrying a PV in my pocket a little difficult. Do you guys just put the whole thing in your pocket? unscrew the tank? or what? I usually only go through about 2 ml or so a day, so I'm not sure what size tank would be the best. I feel like a noob again.

Thanks for any advice.

I have two go to setups. I either use a protank which is wonderful but I did have some small issues with it. But recoiling it myself was simple and made a world of difference.

Or I drip with my igo-L. I previously used a 510 atty and I don't know how it compares to the 306 but I wasn't that big of a fan if the 510. I carry my tesla in my pocket and if dont want the tip poking out I just unscrew the tank.

I've never used Atty's yet, however I went from vivi nova's which I personally thought were terrible, to tanks which were better, and then tried Raven tanks with bottom coil cartomizers which were even better, to BCC clearo's, which are now my fave. With standard carto's in tanks you can't change flavors because of the fiber inside them. With the Raven's and BCC clearo's a quick rinse and dry burn and you're good to go.

I thought the BCC's would lack throat hit because they were bottom coil, however with a lower resistance head on an EVOD, T3S, or ProTank I get a nice throat hit, especially with the EVOD head. These Kanger heads are really cheap too and seem to last a few weeks+ for me using 70% VG juice. Some people also recoil them with a cotton wick they make from a cotton ball, sounds awesome but I probably won't try it for awhile. I have had no problems wicking with any of those anyways. So my favorites in descending order (With the Kangers based on head type):

EVOD
T3S
ProTank
Phoenix Raven carto's
iClear 30(Lacks some flavor and throat hit, but makes clouds of vapor. Only one that has the head at the top)

There's my rant :). But you can find EVOD's for 3 bucks on some sites, definitely worth trying a couple, or if you're requirements are more juice per tank the T3S at 6 bucks is awesome too.

I use tanks because they are easy to use and continually feed, I don't have time during the day to drip so a tank is essential, I only drip at home. I use a glass tank from IBTanked with 510 LR Boge prepunched cartomizer and a Protank. I don't have any issues with them in my pocket and keep the tank screwed on, it's all preference though. I'd say give it a try, that is what this hobby is all about and if you don't like it then you are out like $35 bucks.

Just checked out fasttech.com. Man, where was this site when I started vaping? They have everything. I'm a little confused though. Does Kanger make Evods and Protanks? Are those just general terms to describe a style of tank? I sound like a noob I know, but it just seems that protank and evod is made by more than one manufacturer. They both go for under 15 bucks each. Sounds great! Will either fit on an MVP?

Coming from dripping, I doubt you'll be satisfied with a tank. When I say tank I'm talking about carto or clearo's. Dripping gives you much more flavor and using a 306 gives you a warmer vape, being so close to the coil. There are some high end tank devices that would probably satisfy you but I didn't get the feeling you were asking about them. I've been a Dripper for a long time, I started with 510’s and then went to 306’s. then went to rebuildable drippers, VV/VW, genisis attys, hybrids, mech mods.... I've settled on a Reo Mini with a rebuildable atty. It easily fits in my pocket, holds 3ml of juice, coil is just how I want it, 18490 battery last quite a while, I could run over it with my truck and it would still work, vapes as good as any of my other devices. 306’s also do great on it being bottom fed, if you're not ready to build your own yet. The Reo community is one of the best on this site too, they will hold your hand and walk you through any issues you might have. They seem a little pricey but I would have saved myself TONS of money if I'd gotten one much sooner. You can check them out here.

Thanks for the heads up. I looked long and hard at a REO before going with the MVP. There are plenty of things I'm not sure about with the MVP, but for some reason I was drawn to it. Oh yeah, I'm poor. When I started looking for a new box mod I was really leaning toward a wooden one, and the VV Woodvil was my top choice. It's still the one mod I wish I could afford (someday). The only other thing that took me away from a wooden mod was size. I wear relatively loose jeans most of the time but the wooden mods seem a bit bigger than what would fit comfortably in a pocket.

It's a shame to hear the news about 306 vs tanks (well, not 306 vs tanks, but ya know what I mean). I realize the vaping experience can be relative, but I really do enjoy dripping. Heck, for the price I guess it wouldn't hurt to check out the Pro Tank. I'm sure it will find a place in my vaping routine.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

My advise is to cancel or sell the MVP and keep using the 306 while you save for a Reo. I'm getting ready to get rid of most of my gear and just have a couple of Reo's. Here are some of the mods that are now gathering dust since I got it.
Box mods.

These are just the good ones, also have lots of eGo's, Vamo, LavaTubes, cigalikes......
Like I said, I wish I would have got a Reo long ago.

I've tried most o' da latest and greatest joose devices, pretty much covering da alphabet. I've yet to fall in luv with any clearo! I hate dry hits of any nature!

So after all my 'investments' in joose devices, which one do I use? Just a common, uncelebrated, non-fashionable and satisfying DCT! Ne'er a dry hit and with consistent vaping.

As for da carto/tank naysayers complaining of leaking and filler 'taste', they're doin' sumpin' wrong; or just vaping 'elitest' lookin' fer a justification to spend more vaping money!

Did I mentioned I hate dry!!!

The MVP from Ft is great. It comes with iClear 16s, but those aren't really tanks. The protank looks good on an MVP with the ring it comes with:

Sorry if the pic is huge . . .

Very nice looking wrap! Where can I get one? Not leopard print of course.

The MVP looks like it was made for a tank. Grrrrrrr.

I'm actually pretty burnt out on tanks. I've had some dripping RBA's recently and the clouds I get are just stupid. I can't get enough of it, really. But tanks are waaaaay easier if I'm going out for the day, rather than try to drip every three rips (cloud machines do that ;). So you may really enjoy a carti tank or something like a kanger pro tank.

The Protank will fit anything that doesnt have a recessed 510 connector. It has normal 510 threading. The Evod will require an ego to 510 adapter since it is made for ego type devices, but can be used on any 510 threading that isnt recessed with an adpater. I use an evod all the time with adapter on my 510 devices. Works well..
