Should I throw out my battery and get a new one?

I'm currently using a purple efest 20amp 2100mah battery because I guess that's what was cheapest and best for me at the time and that's what a local vape shop gave me.. I've had it for about maybe 3-4months and as of lately it seems I'm not getting them clouds like I used to. I'm still building my coils the same way as I used to on the same rda with the same box mod, so I'm starting to believe maybe with me chain vaping a lot and possibly over charging the battery a lot it's losing some power and not giving me that beefy hit I was once getting? On a full charge my mod reads it at 4.4v at 50wats with a .4 ohm coil.. could it possibly just be in my head that I'm not getting a beefy hit anymore or could it be maybe I just need to invest in a new battery?

purple efest 20amp 2100mah battery
This battery only has a CDR of between 6.5A-10A NOT the 20A that Efest prints on the wrapper.

Just to clarify, your mod isn't "reading" the battery. That's the voltage calculated based on your input wattage and the resistance.

You said that you're "overcharging" your batteries? You should never be doing that, but to be honest I don't think you are overcharging your batteries, as most chargers are smart enough to not let you do that.

Crap, I missed that. @Susan~S brings up a good point.

Scrap that battery for any one of these:

http://www.illumn.com/18650-sony-us18650vtc5-2600mah-high-discharge-flat-top.html (not 30A despite being often mislabeled as such)

Keep in mind, despite advertisements: There is no true 35A CDR battery on the market. Period.

So basically efest batteries aren't really safe to be using in the first place?

Put it this way, to get a rough guess what your mod is pulling from a battery, wattage/3=amps, in your case you are almost pulling 15-20amps constantly from your battery. Efest do not exactly buy the best batteries to re-wrap and resell, want a battery buy from the big 3 name brands, LG, Sony, Samsung. Panasonic and Sanyo also manufacture there own batteries but at the lower scale available to consumers, and all 5 sell off their B and C rated bin batteries to other vendors like Efest while their own batteries are all A Grade Bin.

Now, can you wear out a battery really quickly?? Let me put it this way and think about, class 1 we have you normal consumer car drives maximum 75mph daily, in class 2 we have a drag racer with a super motor that burns down the strip at almsot 200mph daily, which motor (Battery) going to wear out faster? (Answer is which motor is being stressed the most)

When I was cloud chasing, I was lucky to get about 3 to 6 months usage from a Sony VTC3 or Sony VTC4 at the time, high stress on a battery damages it though you don't see the damage internally, damage decrease storage capacity and C rating, mah and C rating go down, maximum CDR is decreased, after 3months, I can see that battery's ratings in the 1600 to 1800mah and maybe 15amp CDR by now.

I'm not sure you are actually getting 50 watts there.A single batt mods can't go above 4.2v for a fully charged 18650. Have you always set it at 50w? Did a quick calculation of 4.2 volts with a .4 resistance and got 44w.

Oh and I second the samsung 25r, mine have been great.

Yeah I've always had it maxed out at 50 watts on the device.

Not necessarily? They're just mislabeled. The 35A batteries are reliable (I used a pair for a full year), but they're not 35A. They're 20A LG HE2's (I have a pair of those too, heh.)

But now that I know the 35A batteries are really 20A (I wasn't pushing my device to that 35A limit anyway) I just skip the re-wraps and buy properly-labeled batteries. There are a bunch of off-brands like MXJO and "VAPPOWER" and "CLOUDCHASER" and dumb junk. Those are also falsely-advertised rewraps. The battery underneath is probably quality, but the mislabeling is a big turn-off. People could hurt themselves.

Good points and way of putting things. I'd have to agree with the battery's ratings at what they're at now, it's about 3hours until I find myself putting my mod back on charge to get more juice in the battery before I go out and it completely dies on me. I've been using the usb charging cable that came with it and have it plugged into the usb port into my computer and have even been vaping on it whilst on charge.. is that a good idea or no?

We are talking regulated mods, not a mech that only runs off what the battery has available.

Well as for a charger being smart enough, I'm just using the USB charging cable that came with my device and have it plugged into my computer.. for some reason I'm lead to believe that charger isn't smart at all and wouldn't have that capability unless I'm totally wrong. I'll have a look in purchasing one of those batteries you linked though.

Well, I am seeing few of the problems

1) Not enough batteries to support your habit, continually recharging kills a battery as well, at minimum you should need 2 to 3 batteries a day at your power level, most of us longer term vapers have anywhere to minimum 4 batteries, myself with so many devices and applications I've got well close to 2 dozen various batteries from 10amp AW IMR to 30amp LG HB6.

2) For the price of that one Efest at Liion Wholesale, IMRBatteries, RTDVapor, Illumination Supply, or Orbtronics you could have got at least 2 batteries. So buy a pair or couple pairs your next purchase and you'll know they are A Grade Name Brand

3) Get yourself an external charger, a Nitcore i2 Intellicharger will serve you better in the long run than that usb in the Kbox mini

I have a dedicated 18xxx battery charger (Nitecore intellicharger i4) There are better ones, but this was the one recommended a year ago when I started with 18xxx batteries. I prefer NOT to charge replaceable batteries in my devices, even though there are charge ports. If I'm in a pinch, yes, but regular charging, no.

I have a number of efest batteries, but I treat them as half their "printed" rating, and then only build to about 50-70% of that. I've never run over 30W on ANY of my devices, but that's just *ME*

Samsungs, Sonys, LGs, are all good batteries. AW is also supposed to be a good brand. Just make sure you get from a RELIABLE source (i.e. NOT eBay or Amazon.....)
