So... I'm sure you've all been asked a million times, but what is the * vs a non-* thing about? I don't get it and the search function failed me hard lol

Not sure, but I'm trying to find a way to fix it. When I take unscrew the button from the tube, push all the way up, tighten the screw, then adjust to the perfect throw, it's fine. But as soon as I lock and unlock it again, it does what you're seeing in the photos. Do you think maybe I'm missing a metal washer or something in there?
idk, I have a really thin (.3mm) washer under my brass contact, and I haven't ever adjusted the throw.. the only way to change the throw is to put a thicker or thinner washer on there.
seems like the spring is in the wrong place or something to make it stick out that far.
I've seen clone buttons stick out like that, but not authentic buttons.
I tighten my contact down as much as possible with needle nose pliers, and have about 1 or 2 mm of throw on the switch.

That shouldnt be doing that, there is a tiny washer that fits on end of bottom screw. When you lock and unlock that shouldnt do it all the time - maybe once in a while after much use. My others do it once in awhile, then I tighten and all is well unless it needs a cleaning.
You must put locking ring all the way up against serial ring, then push button all the way in and tighten the screw all the way. You cant go about adjusting the throw - its only one way.

Look to see where you lost it, easy enough to do when your taking switch apart, screw lock ring all way up, and push that button all the way in, then tighten the screw

Boog, theres nothing wrong with that switch, the fact is shes trying to adjust the throw. You cant make a longer throw on Caravela. The lock ring must be screwed all the way up, then the bottom part of button pushed all the way in and then the screw - screwed on tightly.
She has two Caravelas, so she knows how the switch goes together.

She needs to tighten her pin down. And tighten it real good with a pair of pliers. Had same issue with mine. When i unlocked the ring it would loosen the pin as well giving me that big gap. Pair of pliers fixed that problem though!

This. When I tightened the pin with a pair of pliers so it was really tight, it fixed the issue. Thanks everyone for the help - you guys are awesome.
