My first car was a 68 Ghia. My dad bought it when we lived in Germany. He drove it after we got back to the States, and gave it to me when I got my driver's license. I loved that car! My second car was a 68 Camaro after I married my ex. My dad bought it for me, but ex sort of took it over (he loved muscle cars). So then, I bought a new Camaro for myself.

So, gas if $10 a gallon where you live? Wow! I thought $4.00 (what I'm paying) was high.

I still get loads of looks when im out in both the Ghia or the type 3 especially when i pop the bonnet to put petrol in the tank at the garage.
I'd love a convertible but the prices have gone ballistic on old VW's in England over the last 3 years so its not realistic and theres no way i'd sell either of these as i have owned them for 7 years now (there like part of the family :) )
Yep petrol just keeps going up over here in the UK but the plus side is i insure both for only £100 each per year and don't have to pay road tax on either.
Keep saying im going to get a bug as thats one VW i've never owned but if i do i will go to europe again as it works out a lot cheaper especially if you want the pre 60 oval windows and one day i hope to go to California and pick up a split screen and drive it to new york to ship back to the UK

Oops forgot to put my 62 bug up on here too. I don't really drive it that much, but the gf thinks its the cutest thing ever. So it gets to stay around. I got a screaming deal on it to. Its a fun little summer car.

This one really shows ya the size of the back end of this beast. That giant yellow box looking thing is our vip room. Then on top of that is our top floor where all our friends hang out and where the djs plays from. Oh we also have 3 flame throwers mounted on the 3rd deck. We LOVE playing with those. Last year I brought 300 pounds of propane and didn't bring any of it home!!!!!

Here is sunday morning sunrise at last year. Its always a tradition for our camp to watch the sunrise on sunday morning at the sunrise saloon.

Sirpluto thats a very nice bug you have there.
That the thing about the states most of your VW's are spared the dreaded tin worm my notch was owned by a american service man who bought it in Germany and took it home to SF before it came over to the UK back in 2002 and it is in great condition underneath and never been welded (still got the accessory pack which includes trays that slot over the back of the front seat)

st200 (mondeo)
Not on the road at the mo but were planing a supercharger conversion (if we can find one to fit along with some trick bits from a mustang)
Slap on a set of 20's and lower it a tad then if we can get it done we'll be off to the ring next year :)

The 600's a great bike and getting hard to find a good example over in the UK now.
Surprising when i look at all my old bikes i had back in the late 80's early 90's and what they are fetching now i just wish i'd kept them all :(.
Plus the real fun has gone out of Riding now as with new bikes you constantly have to be on the ball or they will bite you on the ..., on my older bikes i used to get away with some daft mistakes all the time my new Fazer would kill me if i tried any of that now and my brothers got the ZX1200R and thats worse

As usual I'm a day late, in here trolling for discount codes. I'll post the old stuff in case the judging isn't closed. I also have some more modern rides, but these are more fun to take out cruising. Since I'm shopping for a 120ml bottle of juice, I hope I can sneak these in

I'll start with the bikes. First is my '74 Kawasaki Z1-A. My Dad bought this bike new in Nov '73. At the time it was the fastest production bike you could buy. I finally rescued it from him a few years ago. I had to clean out the fuel system, rebuild the carbs, fix the charging system, and a few other odds and ends. It's a runner, but does need some more work, mainly rebuild the forks and new neck bearings and a left main seal on the engine. It's fun to take this one out and chase the little plastic sports bikes and keep up with them. That 900 Kawi is the 350 Chevy of Japanese motorcycles. Bulletproof and to this day still a top choice for builders putting together drag bikes.

If that's not "classic" enough, I've been seen around here from time to time on this '49 Panhead hardtail. It's a hand shifter with a suicide clutch. It's a handful to ride, but worth the effort and then some.

If more wheels is your style, this is my 4-wheel project, a '50 Ford Coupe. It's a stocker that needs a ton of work. I've already rewired it, with the original 6V+ ground electrical, and it's still got the flathead v-8 with a 3-speed. It's up on jack stands right now in the middle of an excessively drawn out transmission/clutch r&r that was precipitated by a problem with header clearance. I've already rebuilt the rear axle. When I get it back on the ground, I have much sheet metal work and interior to do. In the mean time, it will be fun to cruise around in.

My first time handling that Z-1 I just posted was at 16 years old. I think my Dad figured if it didn't kill me, I'd survive just about anything. My long distance ride these days is an '07 BMW K1200GT. When you hit the gas it goes, and does so RIGHT NOW. You really have to look ahead to see what you will be driving into before hitting the throttle. The good news is: 21st century power is accompanied by 21st century brakes and handling.
