Just a heads up for anyone who is looking for a replacement button post, based on the 1/4"-28 threading mentioned earlier in this thread, I found a part on mcmaster.com for them

McMaster part# 92941A564
brass hex cap screw, comes in a pack of 10

I ordered a pack.

Has somebody tried these? I can guarantee my 19a switch button/post has 6mm x 0.75 threads

Well that's disturbing. I suppose maybe I should have verified on my own mod what the threading is. Maybe the different models all have different threading?

I was basing it off of this post specifically:
You know I was thinking the same thing why go trough the trouble of trying to remove the magnet from the brass screw when you can just replaced the the whole thing with a brass screw. So I took out my metric tread gauge and surprisingly it didn't fit so I took out my standard tread gauge and there you go.

The top cap screw is 3/16-24 or #10-24
The bottom switch screw is 1/4 by 28 I couldn't find this one in brass but I'm sure if you search around you can find one.

I have a 19b, I will post results when my screws come in if they fit or not.

I'm sticking with metric since everything else seems to be metric on it. The calipers said 5.85mm on the OD of the threads and the thread pitch gauge said 0.75mm which would be a standard fine pitch 6mm thread.

That's odd I couldn't get the original post to fit in my metric gauge

^That is beautiful.

Thanks!

I ruined my tube so I don't have a way to test it out :D....Right now there is nothing really tying the post back to the mod body and the internal spacer is just sandwiched by the lock ring.

When I find a brass 19 I have a couple of ideas that will fix both things. I just didn't want to take the time as this was mostly a trial run.

Back to waiting and trying to find a 19e :D

Same here. It doesn't bug me much but it's noticeable.

I guess i'm gonna hit the whole mod with some scotchbrite after i take the bottom cap apart, and bench-grind the cap flush.

I cheat a little....I have a little lathe so the bolt started out as a solid piece of brass hex stock.

Awwww Damnt!

I can't justify the purchase of lathe =( for just a bolt.

One day... when i'm raking in the cash.

Is anyone selling a sg-1 sort of piece besides fusionsmods? They are out of stock.

Alternatively, any tips on hacking the 19b nzonic cap into such a piece?

You might check out a local small machine shop - take your Nzonic head with you so they can take the thread dimensions from it (internal & external threads) and have them make one up for you - it's only a small disk of metal. They could probably use a piece of scrap they would have laying around anyway. It would probably be cheaper than the SG-1, and they could make it up while you wait.

Depends....Do you have a brass 19 to sell? :D

But hacking your nzonic head up shouldn't be to bad. There is a thread in the modding forum on hacking up the original head I believe. Just need a way to cut the portion above the threads off I would think.
