I got my 19b and 19e from Vaportek yesterday. On both, the atty pin sits so low in the 510 connector that none of my Boge cartos or iClear 30s will fire. I thought they were both DOA so I tested them and they work fine. It's just the atty pin sits too low. I can only lower it, not raise it. I've either got to try and swap out the pin or I'll only be able to use rba/rda attys with these.

I also took apart the switches and was going to have 2 two-tone mods. But thanks to sigelei's s****y QC, that's not possible. The brass head works fine on the ss tube, but the ss head is a different story on the brass tube

That's as far down as it'll go. I know they weren't made to be swapped out like that but it would have been nice lol. If I can figure out a solution to the atty pin issue, I'll finally have a love for this device.

Flip the tube and have the vents at the bottom

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You don't really see it that much or at least I don't pay that close attention to it lol.

It would drive me crazy.... not sure why. I'm really good at not dropping mods and keeping them nice. I dropped a IGO-L once and put a dent/nic in it. It drove me crazy so much that I had to get a bunch of high grit sandpaper and sand the whole thing down so the dent wasn't noticeable anymore. After that it matched my natural mod more.

There's no ryme or reason to my neuroticness.... I've got a expensive brass mod that I refuse to polish. Looks like it's been under the ocean for 100 years, but I love the look of it like that. Got that steampunk feel to it.

I'm gonna soak the 19E switch in goof-off all day today and then boil it again. See if that helps.

Me too dude. Don't be embarrassed! Folks here are very forgiving of us newbs.
I've probably asked essentially the same questions two or three times, and even though
I keep a text file of all the relevant info that I run across, sometimes I don't trust my
own observations so I ask again. No one has given me any guff so far and I
REALLY appreciate that!

Especially right NOW. I'm tapering off of one anti-depressant (Effexor) to switch to another
one (doxepin) and it is screwing with my head something fierce. Not to mention the fact that
it's making my restless-limb-syndrome (I've got it in both of my upper arms) go NUTS.
JAYSUS!!!!!!

Wait...I just realized what you mean lol

I'm on medication btw :(

Man, 5 hour goof-off soak, then water boil soak for an hour... then put tape on the switch and used a wrench. Still no damn luck... I guess I'll stop .....ing about it and just post if I ever get it undone.

But, by the size of the blister growing on my finger I thinks safe to say I'll stop trying for the day. Fingers hurt so bad I can barely type this message. The goof-off is clear liquid... when I poured it out it was milky white. Not sure why It didn't work, this thing has more glue on it then a kindergartners school project.

Have you considered 2 of my go-to tools for getting stubborn stuff apart?

So here's my now fixed (thanks to whit) dual custom #19 setup

meguqysa.jpg

Very sexy looking device and especially mixed up like this! I have 4 IGO-W's and an RBA coming Monday so I'm gonna wait till I get those to decide on modding the atty pin. If they fire as is I'll leave them alone and use my Sentinel clone for dripping with cartos. The only other thing I did was add an o-ring on the firing pin to shorten the throw.

I've always loved the look of the 19 with the Nzonic head but was so disappointed it had the issues with the firing button. I'll be super stoked to finally have these working perfectly!

I dig it! That's exactly what I want to do. I have the glue-itis so I can't remove the button from the bottom-most assembly so I'm scrounging for parts now. Celtic Vapes has what I want, but they are outta stock on most items. I DID manage to snag another brass Nzonic top cap though. I'm hoping this one will allow me to unscrew the spring from the delrin so I can adjust the height of the center pin.

I ordered the upgraded ss button from fatdaddyvapes. The brass 19 is the one vaportek is selling. I was just lucky enough to snag one while they had em in stock, so the glue issue is non-existent for me on either one.

What are u guys using to keep 19e's looking fresh?? I've been using mine at work the past couple weeks and it looks horrible.

Used simichrome than used carnuba wax to protect it at first.

I'll do a routine rub with klasse all-in-one for my car (removes oxidation, it's non-abrasive, and has some sealant properties. Approved for marine and aviation use), than coat it with carnuba a couple times.

I didn't want to buy stuff specially for mech mods / bare metal (apart from the simichrome), so i use the stuff i use on my car.

I can't recommend the stuff I use because I haven't researched into stuff specifically designed for brass application

Buffed with Simichrome polishing paste after being brushed with green scotchbrite

One week later, with every day use

So the protection did work (oxidizing slower), first time I brushed without sealing it with something, it turned dark brown in 1-2 days

Mine are only 2 days old. That's why mine look new lol. They haven't been out of the house yet. Actually, they haven't been out of my bedroom since I got em. I'm waiting for some RDA's to get here to see if I need to mod the atty pin.

This is interesting to me. I used to detail cars on the side on my days off from 911, before I got sick.
I used Zaino. Did the day-long 12-step (or whatever) process where you wash with HARSH soap
(like regular old Dawn dish detergent), dry, use clay bar, wash again, dry, coat of polish, coat of
wax, coat of "detail spray", wax, detail spray, wax, detail spray.

Yes. This took ALL DAY. Sometimes two. Like when I did my folks' Ram quad-cab. But DUDE.
It was looking GORGEOUS. It was brand new. I got compliments and stares nearly every time
I drove it anywhere. Paint was so DEEP looking. Same thing when I did my '98 Corvette with
the stuff. Ah....the good ol' days. But I digress......

Anyway, once I have another #19 I'm gonna follow your lead. What you've got there is freakin' ART, buddy.

THAT LOOKS AWESOME! Brushed brass. I don't care for the chrome look because it shows too many scratches, fingerprints, etc. I may be spending my weekend in bed sick brushing my 19's :p

+1 on the klass all-in-one. Been using it on all my cars for the last 10 years. Never thought to use it on a mod. I also have the klass high gloss sealant for the post treatment. Gonna give my 19e a buff and shine this weekend.. Thanks for the tip! Beautiful pics too.
