Got my ss from Fatdaddy and can't take it apart .Going to try the boiling and soaking thing

Here's my earlier post about Fatdaddy switches.

FYI, if you're getting replacement switches from Fat Daddy. I got 2, one unscrewed easily, the other one not so. Even though he told me they aren't glued - just look at the picture.

So, I drilled 2 holes and use needle nose pliers to unscrew it. It was tight, but unscrewed w/ the button tight in a vise (jaws protected w/ aluminium protective covers made from chimney flashing). I didn't soak it in anything.

I meant to say, when I posted that photo:
The 510 post is a bit deeper on this particular SS top cap, but I still can't
get the screw to budge to back it down any further.
It's not a huge deal. That's just a bit of a gap but I can live with it.
I get the feeling that if I apply any more torque that I'm either gonna....break something
or bugger up the screw itself.

Did you just hit your spring with a torch? If so, for how long?

I ask because I've torched mine twice now and it's still a stiff SOB....
Shortened throw is a huge plus though. :)

Adjusted the throw to something like 1mm and softened the spring, my go to these days.

I hit one of my 19e springs with a torch until it just started to glow red. I ended up with a very soft throw, but now it wobbles a little when I set it down. It still is *just* strong enough to not fire on its own.

Here is my #19 with the "sg-free" mod and the 8W switch:

The 8W switch makes it even shorter than the stock switch + it feels nicer to fire. I shortened the firing pin a bit and added an o-ring to shorten the throw. It was also very simple to disassemble. Currently waiting on a brass #19 and will order a 8W switch when I can find it again...

Looks really nice with the 8W fire button. I've been looking for a really cheap #29 - I hate the looks of it (IMHO, its Fugly) , but the switch is supposed to be a direct screw-in to the #19, and would look outstanding on it.:

29 switch does fit the 19. That's what I was told by one of the vendors. It's recessed also.

I prefer the 8w switch.
