Thanks that is what I wanted to do, turn it off for putting it in a small cell phone case on my belt. Just wish all these devices did it faster for when you are trying to sneak a hit at work lol.

That's really why I prefer taking my vv3, when I'm going out to stores -- I vape thru the parking lot all the way to the door, and the vv3 turns off with 3 quick clicks on the fire btn, and don't have to squint to read tiny letters when I don't have my reading glasses on! :D

Vapemail day

Opened the box, looked over the tri fold instruction sheet. Put in a charged AW 18350 that I had and it lights up Sigelei. I had a heck of a time getting the 5 clicks to turn it on. Now I can't seem to turn it off. Fast or slow clicking just goes through the menu.

I couldn't figure out which bottom cap is for what. I used the short cap but it seems to get very warm in use. I want to use the 18490s tomorrow.

Otherwise, looks nice, works well.

Edit to add: Instruction sheet is for V3. I see the on/off menu. I guess you can turn it on but not off.
Five rapid clicks is only used during start-up, not to turn off.

After inserting a freshly charged battery the word SIGELEI appears on the display and eventually goes out. Now is the time to do five rapid clicks which turns the system on. After five rapid clicks the word SIGELEI appears on the screen again, goes out and the words System:ON scrolls by one time. After this, the Sigelei is powered up and the system is on.

After you have the system turned on using five rapid clicks will not turn the Sigelei off. If you want to turn a Sigelei off use Menu Item #1 to disable or enable the firing function as thayamax described. This is the safe pocket carry function. Once the system is up and running you can turn the Sigelei system off only one way: by removing the battery cap for a few seconds.

If you use five rapid clicks on the Sigelei with the system turned on all you are going to get is Menu Item #3.

Many Sigelei V3/V5 vendors give you two battery cap sizes to choose from. This is a good thing. One is 10mm tall and the other is 15mm tall. All the short cap is good for is giving you the smallest length V3 or V5 (100mm) when using a single 18350. It also provides the best battery spring contact for single 18350. For all other battery sizes (18490, 18500, 18650 and 2x18350) the tall caps works just as well and is easier to get threaded onto the battery tube.

Actually the full telescope, with 2 stacked button-top '350s, is my preferred mode; that bottom segment fits my hand *perfectly* and keeps my hand oriented to the button, so I don't have to look at it everytime I use it.

But, I've been thinking of adding an 18500 or 18490 to my battery collection; is the 500-490 difference due to whether it's a button or flat top? I assume it takes either? I think I'd prefer the flat, it does save a bit on length, I notice especially with the stacked 350s.

The difference between 18490 and 18500 batteries is not flat top or button top configuration. For instance, Efest will sell you their red IMR 18490 or their red IMR 18500 in either configuration: Efest red flat tops are labeled V1 and red button tops are labeled V2.

There is a lot of confusion about 18490 and 18500 batteries. For all intents and purposes they are the same sized battery. If battery sizes are actually what the battery number claims then a 18490 is 18mm wide and 49mm long. A 18500 would be 18mm wide and 50mm long. In actual practice the length of batteries can vary plus or minus 1mm or more depending on brand.

For some strange reason AW never made a red IMR 18500. They always sell a IMR battery called 18490. This is odd because most APV battery sizes end with either xxx50 or xxx00. Efest competes for the AW 18490 market and they know that most battery buyers (including AW battery buyers) don't realize that the only difference between a 18490 and a 18500 is one mm in length. For most APVs that use a battery spring the difference is negligible.

Now, Efest makes both a red IMR 18490 and a red IMR 18500. They compete with AW in the battery market. Customers used to buying the AW 18490 for spring loaded APVs may not realize that the 18500 is essentially identical in size to the 18490 and will fit just as well.

I have four Efest red 18500 V1s. I have never tried the Efest 18490 so I can't tell you what the size difference is between the two, if any. What I can tell you that the red Efest 18500 V1 (flat top) measures exactly 18mm in diameter and 50mm in length on my calipers.

Something I should mention about Desert Vapes. The product photos on their website are a little out of date. The V5 I bought from them in April had the latest metal button and laser-etched Sigelei and CE logos.

If metal buttons and laser-etched logos (or not) are a deal-breaker for you contact Desert Vapes and ask them before pulling the trigger.

Ok.. then I think I'd probably want the '490 flat tops; I like the "definition" of the bottom segment in my hand, but I'd like to go to a shorter length if I could, and still have that bottom segment definition. I've found an Efest-IMR 1100 mAh 18490 flat top, on ebay, for $5.90, which seems like the best price I'm going to find.

Thx!

Thanks for the heads-up! I've been waiting for an excuse to pick up the V5 and the coupon code makes it too good to pass up (thanks for sharing that PaulBHC!). That saved me $4.70 for a total checkout price of $45.20. That's a great price, and probably the cheapest you're gonna find for the V5 flat-top right now.

Efest 18500 at Madvapes $5.99
10% off coupon "10offjune" brings them to $5.39

Efest IMR 18500, LiMn 1100mAh Battery, Flat Top

I just happen to do some battery shopping today but I'm looking for AWs.

That's a great deal, and I love buying from MadVapes... but their shipping runs about $3... so that would be about $8.39. The eBay $5.90 says it's $1 for standard shipping, so that would only come to $6.90. So economics dictates, as it usually does. MadVapes (NC) is a lot closer to me (GA) than CA where the eBay one ships from, but I can't think it's worth $1.50 more to get it one day sooner, which is probably all it would amount to.

I went ahead and got my batteries from Desert Vapes as I needed to get over $100 after discount. I know they are not the cheapest but these do have the holographic label.

I chose the cheaper no box option and received the unit itself in the shrink wrapped box. The extra cap, power adapter and instructions were in zip bags. It has the metal button and logos. I like the button operation after pushing an MVP for a while.

I wish the display would stay on longer. I don't like pushing the button just to see the battery level.

It pays to buy as much good gear from one vendor as you can. That saves on postage and handling charges. Then again, the best stuff is usually obtained from several vendors and not one and buying quality may mean paying more than one vendor. Everyone buys in different ways. I'm not going to judge that except when I authorize the charges.

I just wanted to thank you folks for starting and contributing to this thread. It sold me on getting the Zmax.

I got my V3 about a week ago and could not be happier. I've been vaping for almost 4 years now and finally decided I needed a regulated mod and the Zmax fits my needs at a very reasonable price. The only thing that concerns me are the button issues but I'll cross that bridge when/if I come to it. (The button on the GLV2 5v is what sold me on that mod)

I did start to see the odd Sigelei logo come up that caused me to have to restart. No, I had not applied Noalox yet. Picked up some this morning and applied to the threads. So far no more random resets.

Thanks again.

Thanks for checking in, Keefer.

No need to worry about button issues with the Sigelei V3 or V5. As far as I can tell this issue is actually very rare with the Sigelei. And if it happens we have the answer.

If anyone in the English-speaking world has any problem at all with a Sigelei V3 or V5 the first thing they are going to do is go to the internet and Google for help. This includes everyone from people who can't figure out the one-button menu on the Sigelei to people who have a teething dog that chews on their mod. They won't find any online product support from Sigelei in China. What they find is this very thread on ECF that your are reading right now.

What you see here is a collection of most every single problem asked and question searched on Google and directed to ECF regarding every friggin' Sigelei Zmax V3 and V5 sold and used in the English-speaking world for the past 14 months. For the most part, people who use these rigs never have a single problem or question and have never needed to look this subject up on Google on their computer or smartphone. Everyone that does gets their answers here.

Welcome. Check in anytime you like.
