Congratulations on your successful repair. The Omron switches work really well.
There are little plastic stops at end of the half round housing that are supposed to keep the board from sliding out from the end but these are weak. My V5 also had a big glob of hot glue holding the board in place inside the half round housing.

Glad your sigelei is working like it should now. So far it looks like none of the Omron switches used for replacements have worn out. I figured it would take me about three years to reach the 1,000,000 clicks these switches are rated for.

Thanks yzer! It was really weird. The plastic shaped housing stayed in there so I left it so I wouldn't have to re-glue it. But it wasn't a full half circle at the end. Only the bottom half of the circle was at the end. The two top parts that contained the slots or rails that you slide the board into started about an inch or so further back almost like it was cut at an angle of more than 90 degrees. It' was hard to see down in there to get the board started in the slots. Small drama though in the end. It's still working great! I learned a lot from doing the first one, so I think the second one should go more smoothly. Having done it I won't be as hesitant to pick up another one that goes way on sale, maybe a V5 or even the 20 watt. I have four more switches! :)

But do they really fire 24? My MVP won't go over 11 even if you do use the voltage setting and a low enough resistance..

Yes, 100% yes. It will fire anything 1.3 and above with 6v - *in stacked mode.

With a set of fully charged quality 18350's it will hit 28w for about half the charge then decrease to about 24 when it dies.

1.3ohm at 6v gave me the most power.

The power increase with stacked batteries is double. Do it!

The battery life is more than double, do it!

Oh I have a 50w mod now and yes it was 28w on the Sig v3.

The Zmax saga continues. I just received the V5 from VaporBeast that was on sale for $14.97 a week ago. It appears they have cut corners . The stainless has a very slight brass or gold hue. I suspect a cheaper grade of stainless steel. All threaded parts do interchange with older units. The slotted top cap allows a flush atomizer fit however the flat top surface has not been finished to a semi bright polish like the rest of the mod. Chrome like plated plastic button with logo. An oval Sigelei logo above the fire button. The words Sigelei v5 are not etched in the side as pictured. There is no USB adapter but was stated not included in listing. I wonder if this has been factory omitted as a cost cutting measure. More serious no large bottom battery cap. This really makes using an 18650 a crunch operation. I see no large caps pictured in the listing nor any on the Sigelei site. A bad thing to eliminate. To make it usable ( with an 18650 or stacked 18350s ) a cap from an older unit will work but there is the slight finish difference. For the money a nice parts supply of board, button, 510 connector, battery spring and top cap. I would have been disappointed if the price was in the normal range.

I've gotten confused in all the talk of sales going on... Is the zmax on sale anywhere right now? Preferably the v5 but at a good price I won't complain either way. I'm not a big fan of the rounded top so yeah. Turns out I love the 1 I got back in Feb or Jan so much, I gotta hv another! I hv the gun metal and it's turned out to be my go to mod now

Anyone know of any coupon codes for vapor beast to help on the $50 sale? I saw where I missed the $15!! Damn it! I read a poster said they were a bit disappointed in the quality and it doesn't have a USB cell charger or bottom battery cap. I'd hate to pay that much and not get good quality. Hmmmm....

That's very interesting, VapieDan. However, it's not all that surprising. Sigelei is evolving the marketing cycle of the V5 by reducing costs and selling it for less. I can't remember how many products I have seen during my life that followed this marketing life cycle but it must be in the thousands, including GMC cars, Maytag appliances and Sony electronics.

A photo of your new V5 next to an older production V5 would be really interesting.

By any chance, have you checked the firmware version of your V5 from Vaporbeast? Is it SI V2.0a? Does it have Menu Item #9?

Two battery caps or one? This has varied depending on which batch the vendor is selling for years. Vented top caps appeared on some V5s sold by FastTech over a year ago.

As for the future of any tube APV designed primarily for the less than 20W market, who knows? The market for big, expensive e-cigs is changing just like the market for cell phones has changed. Remember when cellphones didn't have LCD screens on them?

Varitube is a long time quality vendor for Sigelei. They have the V3 for $42. V3 is identical to V5 but doesn't have the cell phone charger (which is a white elephant in my book). V3 also has a one line display instead of the two line display on the V5.

Regardless of who you buy a Sigelei V3 or V5 from check to see that is has both the short (10mm) and long (15mm) battery caps. Email or phone the vendor to verify this if it is not stated explicitly in the product description.

I gotta admit, I went through my stash and played with ego's and kanger t3's along with other assorted small clearos - meh. Just didn't cut it for me. I never thought I'd see the day that the convienence of ego's would be over. I've got a lot of items to PIF now.

I'm still not impressed with high wattage devices I've seen. All of them seem to be short lived unless I pay high dollars (> $70). The fact that I did break down and get a 50w istick that I'm afraid to charge now isn't helping. I'm in the mood for something different and I'm just not seeing it.

Zmax still rules as a daily driver.
