If you can't take a picture, can you tell me if the button is flush against the black contact, or if the black contact is higher than the button and/or off center?
I can't get a close enough shot with the current camera to show you this. The clear plastic button fits snug against whatever is underneath: there is no freeplay except for a little wiggle side to side. I looked at the button in my 14x jeweler's loupe. The bottom of the button appears gray/white just like ground glass except for dead center. There is a darker dot in the dead center of the button base less than .5mm across. This is surrounded by five or six faint concentric rings. This pattern may have been left by whatever was used to provide the ground finish on the inside of the button. There are no other dark areas to be seen other than optical shadows. I can't see anything that may be underneath the button unless the dot and rings are made by contact with a switch underneath.

As I wait impatiently for my V5 to arrive, I've been learning a lot about this mod...a number of these posts talk about keeping this mod spotless in a number of areas...this is the product I'll be using for both cleaning and lubricating. I work in television production as an audio mixer, and always have a can of DeoxIt on hand when a cable connection gets noisy and needs cleaning...a fantastic product.

Curious about warranty period provided by sellers of this mod, post# 283 purchased from Varitube and a 90 day warranty from this seller was provided, however...Sigelei's own web site says the Zmax is warrantied for 1 year, so why aren't these retailers providing this factory warranty ?

I've always wondered this, I think its bull. But it has to do with shipping it back to china..

Just arrived home to a lovely Zmax V5 purchased from Free-Cigs.com, super fast free shipping, both sizes of battery caps included, TrustFire dual charger, 2 18500 Efest flat top batteries, phone charger accessory and instruction manual...94 bucks, a very nice deal.

It's up and running and working like a champ...this thing is really really nice, I'm using the Anyvape Davide mini with a 1.8 ohm coil with Bobas bounty. Menus are a breeze with all necessary info, including a puff duration reading if desired. No crooked screen issues, alignment is perfect, button is very solid with only slight movement, just a very solid unit.

Very solid unit but I'm having constant misfiring issues only a month in. Will noalox help this? Is there any sort of warranty? It worked great for 2 weeks but the last two weeks have been rough. The button won't activate the menu or fire the device. Help!
Lots of people including myself recommend using Noalox on the tube threads. There are lots of posts on this subject in this thread. The warranty is different with every vendor from zero to up to 90 days with American vendors. What sort of warranty did your vendor provide?

Yep. Clean all tube threads and the battery cap threads with a soft cloth dampened in alcohol as soon as you get the mod. You will be surprised how much machining dust will come off. Then give the tube threads a thin coating of Noalox. You can find Noalox cheap in the electrical department of any Home Depot. This lubricates the threads leaving a thin film of zinc behind that improves electrical conductivity between stainless steel parts. Zinc is a much better conductor of electricity than stainless steel. Clean off any moisture that accumulates on the 510 or Ego connections on a daily basis. Kleenex works great for this. Pull the post on your atomizing device if needed. Doing these steps will eliminate problems many people incorrectly attribute to the switch button.

I just completed the DaxFx (post 381) spring mod, it'll allow you to run a flat top 18500 battery with zero gap between battery tube and the main body...zero battery tube/battery wobble and very light pressure on the PCB, much lighter pressure than using the spring cap. The 18500 batt in the smallest package makes this mod even better.

DaxFX used the short battery cap, my method requires the deep batt cap. I used a pinhead size dab of Gorillla Glue in a couple spots to secure the flat piece of the spring.

For anyone interested, the link to that post is here.

Ok have been looking for a AVP for a while during my research I found a review on the Segelei V3 Telescopic. That got me to this thread after reading and rereading every page I finally pulled the trigger! Ordered kit from Welcome to VariTube.com - A Better Alternative to Smoking used the coupon code of VARITUBE10 for a shipped price of $67.45. Will replace the batteries and charger in the future if needed but at that price with a 90 day warranty shipped I just couldn't help myself lol. Would like to say Thanks to all for the great information posted in this tread. :toast:
