Signature Required?

Maybe it's a corona virus thing. FedEx brought my DIY stuff the other day. I opened the door and he started backing up real quick. I asked if he wanted me to sign anything and he said no. Practically ran away.

The coronavirus has people freaking out I imagine.

FedEx (and I think USPS) doesn't have to have the customer sign for their packages right now due to the whole social distancing thing...

So if you were opening the door without a mask on, he was probably worried as he wasn't planning on doing any face to face contact with your package.

Only Fedex comes to my front door which means walking across a large lawn with no path. Everyone else goes round the corner and down the driveway to the back and leaves stuff on the deck. I had a Fedex guy show up a few weeks ago. I saw him coming and opened the door, just started walking towards him without thinking not wearing a mask. He stopped and looked worried. I realised what I was doing and backed off so he could drop the package on the front porch without getting close to me.

Delivery drivers have a hard time. They come into contact with so many people every day. A lot of those are going to be anti-maskers or just not thinking like me that time. They have a high rate of infection. I'm very careful now and give them plenty of space.

Yes, the agreement in setup says something to the affect like we aren’t responsible for the package, and then they leave it on the porch. I’m not sure if fedex has this but some let you pick a spot from choices like front door, back door, garage door, etc. Although it’s usually only applicable if it won’t fit in your mailbox. I know USPS has this which is nice because frequently the other carriers often ship it to your town and then handoff to Usps for final delivery. Usps has informed delivery which is worth signing up for. It’s free and it will show you pics of your mail that’s due to arrive each day and packages. So if you just see junk mail, you don’t even got to bother going to the mailbox. Anyway, I digress, but hopefully this can help some of you cope with the dreaded wait for vape mail. It’s excruciating and we need all the help we can get.

Very helpful, thank you. Every time we got signature required package from USPS (for non-vaping-related reasons), it always resulted in a very complicated process of signing release form and leaving it in the mailbox, which led to a subsequent very delayed re-delivery or a trip to the PO a week later.

Very dangerous job during a pandemic. And our brilliant lawmakers are trying to pass a bill that will make that job much more so. Crazy times.

I've had ~8 vape gear packages from Europe (to the states) delivered by DHL and FedEx over the last 3 months. And one from Canada via DHL. A signature wasn't needed for any of them, I asked each time, even though 4 of the stores said they would be required. Didn't even ask me for an ID. Go figure, must be a pandemic thing.

This is funny, though. We have to pay extra for the service we're not getting.

They didn't give you an extention on your driver's license in your state?

Here in mine they extended it until October as well as are allowing you to apply for a renewal license and replacement (using the last rounds photo) via online and they mail it to you... my husband just got his new one in the mail today, even though the DMV is closed to the public.

I was fortunate in getting the new real id DL in February before covid took off.

It's a new law in California.

I will always love Cali from my many times spent there over the years.

They are kind of like a universe of their own with some of the puzzling things they choose to do with laws/regs. Livin' in Cali ya just gotta roll with whatever!

But I would still go back, SoCal or NorCal. Optimistic!!!

And yes, we're rolling with it. For the time being, anyway. Optimistic is right!

I haven't had anything delivered by FedEx or UPS that has required a signature, so I don't know how to handle that. I usually home anyway. I can pick up my USPS packages that require signatures the same afternoon I get a delivery notification. One of the advantages of living in a small town.
