Hello everyone,

I bumped into these two long threads about the dangers of silica:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/284030-wick-materials-safe-vs-dangerous.html

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/atomizer-mods/232081-just-stainless-steel-wick-filler.html

I wonder if it is really possible small pieces of fiberglass to enter your lungs, especially if the atty is dry burned several times and all wicks are misplaced?

I use a protank, but today I switched to my old eGo-C attys since their design seems to be a tiny bit "safer" in this aspect - the wick is tightly stuck in the atty and the way of the vapor up to your mouth goes through more obstacles opposed to the protank where all the vapor directly hits you through the straight pipe-like design. I don't know, perhaps it's the same ..... anyway.. So that's why my question is are there some atomizers or tips with built in particle filters on them? If not, can I buy bamboo or 100% stainless steel mesh attys for my protank (or for ego-c) from a website or someone who mods attys?

I read some people already made a microscopic analysis and it did find pieces of fiberglass in vapor.. and sicila is a really, really, really bad thing for one's lungs or mouth. Thanks in advance for any enlightement, I'm really concerned guys.

Also, as a hazard reduction tactic, I left the main silica wick on my protank (so i can dry-burn), but removed the loose silica flavour wicks and replaced them with a fat cotton stripe from a makeup pad that I hope will 'catch' the silica particles on their way up. Do you think this would work? It tastes great btw.
