Silver Bullet, Gone Forever....

So 5 weeks ago, my friends and I went to the Illinois river in Oklahoma for a river float trip. Me being the Genius that I am brought my silver vein bullet with me. I though there was no way i would loose it. I even went and bought me a nice little pelican case for it. I had 2 fellow vaper's on the trip and was warned that it was a bad idea. About 5 hours into the trip and plenty of drinks later, I was laying on the side of the raft and went to pass it to a friend. BLUP. I was sitting there just staring into the water thinking, Did that just happen? Yup, sure did. So if anyone is ever floating down the Illinois river in Tahlequah Oklahoma, keep an eye out around these coordinates in Google maps, 35.946501,-94.882615. Somewhere around there you will find, a Silver Vein Bullet, a 5.5ml J-tank, A Smoktech D/C Carto, A Citrine Ming Swirl Tip and a semi new 18650 XSL battery. Stick to your ego if your going on the water. It will be a lot cheaper.....

I feel for you man BUT cigarette prices have gotten so high here in NY loosing a silver bullet like you did is about the same as buying a carton of Marlboro's around here. REALLY!

Are you going to replace it or buy something else now?

Sorry to hear of your loss . I was just commenting the other day to a guy that goes river rafting all the time , and was wondering why no one had a waterproof device . ( Impossible , I would think ) I recommend that he take something cheap and just put it in a ziplock bag . He said he didn't want to use a cheapo , he wanted his good stuff . Well all I can say to him is Good Luck . I hope you don't mind buying another Provari , when yours goes swimming . So like you said , Ego , or little 510's , are a way better choice , if you might lose them .

I feel ya. I just lost a cheap Twist to the water which I replaced but I still feel a little foolish. I know better because it wasn't my first water related PV loss. I really really hated losing a Glock 19 loaded with snake shot overboard from a fanny pack that wasn't ZIPPED!

I keep a 5V Wow in the windshield bag of the bike all the time and it's usually in my shirt pocket while riding. The idea of having a Provari go airborne on the highway is a little better than having it take a dive, but not much.

The day i got back i bought another bullet. A nice new white one. They were out of the Silver Veins.
I know how it is up there in NY. I'm from Vermont. New Yorkers used to come over all the time to buy packs to avoid the high cost.

Yeah, that would hurt pretty good. I would be looking into scuba diving as a new hobby if I was you...

The Omega will not float, but being mechanical it would at least be better in bad weather or splashes when on a boat. But more importantly, it has visible vent holes on the bottom unlike the silver bullet (the new version has 4). So theoretically you could use those to attach a lanyard. Grimmgreen's silver bullet vs omega comparison suggests that the two mods, as well as being both made by Chad (cddz on this forum), perform identically and that the only real difference is how to trigger it. I have an Omega and it is magnificent. It comes in silver vein as well.

Ouch! It really hurts to hear about a lost Silver Bullet. I'm sitting here right now vaping a Silver Bullet with a Vivi Nova tank. There is a small gap between the bottom of the tank and the top of the SB that would provide plenty of room to tie a string and attach one of those $3.00 floating keychains that boaters use. It would keep the SB afloat long enough to grab it.

Or you could do the same thing but attach a wrist strap like those that come with small digital cameras.

Maybe the purpose is to make others think twice before taking a higher priced device into situations like this. Do not take anything you are not prepared to loose.

point of advice: threaded PVC tubing. if you enclose your mod in a tube of PVC with end caps, sealing the threads with Teflon tape, the tube will float, and be completely encased in a waterproof tube...and you can probably find all the pieces necessary at home depot for about $10~15
