Silver coating wearing off on contact pin

I recently noticed the silver coating on my contact pins for my Ehpro Dynast has slightly worn off, revealing copper(I think) underneath. I was wondering if I should take the rest of the coating off? What should I use to take it off? Or, should I get new contact pins and if so where could I find them? Thanks.

I had a GP v2.5 Lux button with a portion of the gold plating worn off. It's gold plate over brass.
Some Bar Keeper's Friend, little water and a rag took it right off really quickly.

I use a point file and 320 grit to sand all my pins, contacts and kicks. Most of them are plated copper or brass anyway, I just speed up the wearing out process by sanding it off.

What is the benefit of taking it off? Will it improve the connection?

Used a nail filer to take off the rest of the silver coating. Drastically decreased in performance, this is unfortunate. Any suggestions on what to do? Is there replacement pins for the Dynast online?

It should improve the connection as you have removed the plating from the actual metal. Now, you do not have the plating in the way. Your decrease in performance has to be related to something other than removing the plating from the pin.
