I Have done deep searches throughout this forum for menthol recipes and have found not much, if any recipes. Mostly what has shown up are menthol tobaccos.

From what I have read, alot of people like me craved menthol when switching over, even if they didn't smoke menthol.

So here's some incentive:
read this- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menthol, notice this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kappa_opioid_receptor, and consider the implications.

So the topical effect of menthols analgesic properties are no secret at all, but the Kappa activity was new to me. Yeah...the possibilities.

So can somebody please give "the Gr8" a good straight menthol recipe with a subtle undertone of caramel and vanilla with just a hint of spearmint?

I don't have a complex menthol recipe like that .. That's an interesting combo.

Do you make your own menthol flavoring from crystals? It is so much stronger and purer tasting than menthol flavorings I've purchased. .3ml of my menthol liquid in a 15ml mix (with spearmint and wintergreen) about knocked me on my .... The menthol was way overpowering.

Yeah ,I might just try and see what happens. That Vermillion River "Minnesota Menthol" clone I was lookin' for earlier indicated those flavors + a piney taste.

What I am trying to reconcile is the proper percentages of total flavor in the mix. I will need to trance channel my laboratory muse, Merlin, and see what happens :D

I do, make my own menthol from dry crystals. In straight PG, plus I usually put in a little Koolada. I am likin' about 10 drops per 5ml.

I just use 15 drops of menthol in 30 ml of juice. Plus I add 10 drops of lemon. Of course you could add other flavors.

I find this better and "cleaner" than any "menthol" juice I've ever ordered; no wintergreen or any of that mixed in.

And of course, much cheaper than buying the flavored juice !

That sounds decent....wish I would have ordered some lemon!

For that piney taste, either a very tiny amount of Tobacco Absolute (diluted) or TFA's Mary Jane flavoring.

Why don't you make a menthol juice to your liking, and add a tiny amount of caramel, vanilla swirl, spearmint, and one of the two leafy flavors I mentioned? Tweak up the caramel and vanilla to your liking until you dial into the flavor?

The TPA original caramel is very strong. The vanilla isn't as strong. I'd start with a small amount of caramel, double that amount of vanilla, and just DROPS of your pine flavor. TFA Spearmint is wayyyy strong too. Drops might be best there.

A little EM wouldn't be amiss.

Stellar ideas :)

Let's see I have caramel, french vanilla and spearmint. I am going to try Mary Jane and I will need to order some TA. Oh I have EM as well :)

What else would work in lieu of TA and Mary Jane, any ideas?....... maybe champagne!?
I will see what happens :)

I am such a noob here, I have made a whopping 3 different juices

Thanks for your ideas :)

Hey,
what does just straight water do to a mix?

Possibly introduces chemicals and contaminates.

DISTILLED water will thin a mix of juice. Some people do this to thin out their VG. Other folks use alcohol.
EDIT to add. I don't use either of these methods. I vape 40% VG these days. I see no reason to thin my VG.

As far as what else would work for a piney taste -- not so sure about champagne. Haven't tried that yet (it's on the list!), but I hear it gives a fizzy taste. Not so sure to be honest.

Reason I ask is this. There is a certain light and airy (but not wimpy, no sacrifice of the throater) that I have gotten from some of these juices. I am just wondering if the water affects the viscosity of the vape in a good way.

Something to toy with.... :)

I'm also a menthol fan, and tend to go for mint when not going for menthol. :)

I DIY, but tend to prefer a more subtle flavor. I use the following recipe, 70% PG/30% VG for decent vapor production while still preserving throat hit. YMMV.

Menthol: 5%. Lately I've been using the menthol crystals, in a fully saturated solution of PG, and calling that the flavoring which gets used at 5%. But most menthol flavorings are pretty much identical, the crystals are just cheaper.

Cinnamon: 1%. I use TFA Cinnamon, but whatever you like will be fine. This gently warms the menthol a bit.

Milk Chocolate: 0.5%. I use TFA again, but ditto. This increases the complexity a touch and gives a nice, polished undertone without being chocolatey, which I don't like.

There's no reason you couldn't substitute caramel for the cinnamon, giving you a sweeter, but colder, flavor and cutting the sharpness that way. The milk chocolate is completely optional, although spearmint at that level would be just a hint of flavor.

And of course, you can always play with the percentages. Menthol can go to 10% (at which point it's pretty strong). I just happen to like a gentle, subtle flavor.

This looks really good, thanks.

So what I am going to try (mostly due to what I have, flav wise) is your recipe substituting caramel instead of cinnamon.

Now, I have TFA double-chocolate and I also have whipped cream, so what do you think of this

Instead of Milk Chocolate(don't have, yet):

0.25% Double Chocolate
and
0.25% Whipped Cream

To emulate the MC?
