Single again on Valentines day. Bleh. I really don't much like this holiday. Whenever I was with someone I still didn't appriciate it. For instance if your a guy and you don't get your gal something for V-day you are considered an ____ole. Its my viewpoint that if you feel the want to do somehting special for your loved one it can be ANY time during the year. In fact, it should be MULTIPLE times a year. Consumerism is the worst.

Anyway, I don't really need to worry about that this year as I am single. However, now I get to notice every happy couple kissing and dating and talking to me about it!

Then there is my parents who are like "When are you going to get married and give us grandchildren" UGH! Bleh! Ptuy!

Anyway, sorry to be a bummer for any of you happy couples out there. On a positive note, candy is always 1/2 off they day after V-Day.

Well, anyway, I don't feel like being single this V-Day so I am accepting applications again:

Potential Girlfirend Application

Guys can also take a look (DO NOT FILL OUT) and see what im missing for proper questions :)

Consumerism is the worst.

Boy is that the truth...

It's almost as though I'm obligated to buy something for somebody for almost every month of the year (sometimes multiple times in a single month).

The thing that kills me the most, especially with such arbitrary holidays like V-Day, is that the gift that is given to the receiver is virtually expected (I.E. - If no gift was gotten, they have the "right" to be angry).

However, on any other day if a gift were given, they'd be truly appreciative and if no gift were given no thought is given to it at all.

Not to say they don't appreciate it on days like V-Day, but I like to think about it like this:

The level of appreciation is usually inversely correlated to the level of expectation there is associated with that gift.

Obviously this isn't a blanket statement that is going to strike a chord with everybody that reads it, nor do I think that it should/does fit everybody...just something for everybody to think about.

I figured I should add this:

I'm not single, and my girlfriend and I have been together for just under 3 years now, and I still make a big deal for her on V-Day...but she is also aware of the feelings I expressed in my last post.

I also get her presents randomly throughout the year. I've got to say, there is a discernible difference (sometimes a lot) between the reaction I get on V-Day and on the days she expects nothing (like a random Wednesday in March).

I don't think I understood this...
