Ok, sorry to keep you folks waiting for so long... and I'm almost ready now!!
But I see that you have been amusing yourselves in my absense (LOL) so here's a lttle something to read while you wait... ;)

My story started in High School, when most of my friends were smoking (they were $.35 a pack, $.40 in the machines... lol), and I used to bite my nails. Then somebody dared me to quit biting my nails and see how long I could grow them... so I ended up with inch long fingernails, and a nasty habit that would last for the next 40+ years!!
I never really liked the taste of cigs and actually quit once, but my friends were smoking Menthol at the time, so when I started up again it was with Menthol and found that harder to quit.

Fast forward to about 12 yrs. ago, when I started having severe Panic Attacks... and my smoking became more than just an addiction, but a nervous habit as well. I had tried herbal remedies before for what I thought was just 'job stress', but this time I felt that it was time to give in and get some prescription meds. Between drinking and the meds I was pretty much a mess and wasn't happy about the side effects, so I stopped taking the meds and fooled myself into thinking I was Ok for a while. Even cut down on my smoking to about 1/2 to 3/4 PAD...
I was on Disabilty and could no longer afford to stay where I was living, so I moved in with my Mother for what I thought was just going to be temporary until I got back on my feet... but found out that she had been hiding some health problems from me, and between dealing with her Dementia, the Doctors and Hospitals, I started drinking more to calm my nerves... and smoking more again, too.
After stays in a Nursing Home and Assisted Living, it was determined that my Mother would no longer be able to live on her own, and the Apt. Mgr. wanted me out of here!! I fought with them for a year, but finally won the battle and was able to stay... although my Mother passed away before then, I know she is happy for me!!

I took the next year off from just about everything, trying to decompress... and finally decided that I was tired of having the Panic/Anxiety and alcohol rule my life, so I checked myself into a treatment center to detox for a couple of weeks and get started back on some sort of meds again. It was while I was there that one of the staff members had an ecig, and I had never seen one before!! It was black with a blue dragon along the side and I thought it was just the coolest thing I had ever seen!! I pumped him for as much info as I could, and he also gave me the name of the supplier he got his from, and the link to the ECF... That was in Oct. of 2009.

A friend offered to buy me the stuff I needed to get started, but the supplier was out of stock at the time and I spent a lot of time reading everything I could on the ECF. In the meantime, my friend got me a disposable he found at a smoke shop to make sure it was something I would really like and/or use, and I was hooked!! I couldn't wait to get my order in... and once I got it, I was tobacco Free on the second day... that was on Aug. 13th, 2010 (Friday!!) and even though it had taken me 10 months to make the decision, I have never looked back!!

Since then, the ECF has pretty much become my Lifeline... between all of the info here, the wonderful people and the friends I have made, to the very generous suppliers with their contests and freebies that have allowed me to indulge myself in some of the new stuff that I would never be able to afford on my own!!
Which is also why I enjoy giving a lot of it back, too... in fact the very 1st Prize I won went to a friend who has COPD to try to get her off of her beloved 'ciggies'. I always carry ECF business cards with me and am more than happy to spread the Gospel of the Ecig to anyone who will listen... :D

The ecigs have also had a calming effect on me as far as the Panic/Anxiety goes, so much so that one of my Therapists is interested in finding out more info about them... and I believe that they have also played a big part in curbing my cravings for alcohol, too!! Maybe I have just substituted one addiction for another, but I know that I am feeling a lot better since I have made the switch, and that's what really counts!! :thumb:

I am sorry that I ended up writing a book about myself here, but I hope it helps some of you get to know me a little bit better... which was the whole point of the questions for the entries to this contest in the 1st place... LOL!!

So next... the moment you have all been waiting for... Who won??? t09134.gif
