I have the hcigar VT dna 40 running in regular mode. I do understand that the chip reads in real time. But I notice that when using Kanthal the resistance changes slightly up and down. For example when I fire it, it jumps between 1.35 to 1.39 or even sometimes down to 1.31. On all my other mods it fires at 1.3 stable but they only read to 10ths not 100ths of an Ohm. I assume this is normal but I just wanted to check.

Slight variations like that with Kanthal is normal. It's the extra decimal place getting a more accurate reading.

I agree :). Not a concern. Enjoy your mod.

One of my friends flipped out over the sx mini for the same reason. Kanthal does change a little from heating and cooling, and even on my multimeter I see changes at the thousandths place all the time.
