How often should I change my coil builds? I am noticing a decrease in performance and flavor. The same coil has been in for about 3 weeks

reworking every 2 to 3 days. how often would you say your vaping? are you using it all day long, or just parts of the day?I'll defer to Two_Bears on this one. I completely agree with him on the coil longevity, and from what I remember about cotton, 2-3 days between changes sounds about right, as well... As long as you're using Kanthal or NiChrome for coils, then you're safe with the dry burn... just don't try that with Titanium coils!

lol. Where do I get rayon wick? I have finally found a good build for the sliverplay. I'm running 0.4 ohms just not looking forward to wicking it as I dint think I'll be able to get it to jusice again. That part alwasy seewms to mess me upLOL! My mod rarely leaves my hand. I vape all day long, and lately I've been using the same mod/tank (pretty much non-stop for the last 6 weeks). I finally rebuilt my coils and wicks last week after 5 weeks of vaping on the same coils/wicks, but I'm using rayon and not cotton, so you can't really compare the two styles. When I did use cotton in my RDAs, I vaped it non-stop for 2-3 days and then pulled the wicks, dry burned the coils to clean them off, then rewicked them. I changed the coils about every 4-6 weeks. Not because they were bad, but I get bored easily and just like to play with different coil set-ups. Now with the Silver Play I've finally found a coil/wick set-up that works with temp control, so I hardly ever mess with it. I just refill with juice and keep vaping.
I got mine from Sally's Beauty Supply (online or B&M)
Look for Graham Cellucotton Box Numbers:
Box #s: 44060 (500 ft), 44043 (3 lbs = 900 ft), 44040 (1200 ft), 44130 (40 ft).
And be sure to check out the Rayon thread that I linked earlier. You'll find all of the tips and tricks there, and everyone in that thread is super friendly and helpful.
Also, if you look in the Rayon thread, you'll find pics of my build and wicks. That should help you figure out how to wick yours with rayon so that it doesn't leak.
"Rayon wick, better flow, flavor" Thread is located here:Would you post a link to the Rayon thread please?
About the long lasting coils comment. I appreciate the support.
But you only get long life out of a coil if you baby the coil by gently removing the wick. If you get angry or frustrated and jerk the wick you will wreck the coil every time.

Le$$ posted a link to the old thread. We maxed that one out on the post count and @JeremyR started a new thread with a ton of helpful info in the first few posts. I'm not saying you shouldn't read through the old thread, but if you want to get started quickly I'd start with the new thread.
Rayon Part 2
Yeah, I can get a month or two out of a set of coils, but it seems to get to a point that dry burning doesn't seem to help the flavor any more. I haven't wrecked any coils while removing wicks, but it just seems that around the 1-2 month mark I notice a definite loss of performance. I typically use 24g or 26g NiChrome, but I've been using Titanium with temp control for the last month and a half or so... unfortunately, you're not supposed to dry burn titanium...![]()
I appreciate the new rsyon link.
About dry burning Titanium coils. I was hesitant about that myself. Now Stainless steel I would dry burn the heck out of them.
It should be able to clean the gunk off the titanium coils
1.gently brush it off with an old toothbrush.
2. Soak the base in Vodka over night.
It would be worth the investment of buying a spare base or spare tank and soak the old coils longer in Vodka if necessary.
question. I rewicekd the tank tonight and its leaking. I guess i didn't get enough cotton in it. can I just put a little extraa piece on the ends instead of having to rewick the entire thing
