I generally go without the kick during the work week, but throw the kick on for weekends when out and about. Yes, you'll want to take a backup battery or two if going out for the whole day.

Wish they made a Microstick for 22mm atties... Slightly less micro, but certainly something I would buy in an instant.

THe Super T Simplicity 18350 is very small and they do have the optional Kicklet for it, and then there is the ELA, can go from 18350 to 18650 with optional kick tube.
PSSST, there are a few ELAs up for sale right now, quick they might be all gone..... in 350 mode its very small but a bit stout as its 23mm wide.

I'd also second the Nemesis. You can kick it with any of the 3 batteries, and with the 18350 it's pretty small. You would need at least a spare battery, that's for sure. Depending on the wattage and usage it can last quite a bit actually. I took it out at 10 watts for a night and when I got back the battery was at 3.6V after 5 hours of regular usage, if I recall correctly the last time the Kick2 shut down the battery it was at 3.2V. However using the Nemesis in 350 mode without the kick is just so damn small, just a bit smaller than the size of an 18650 or about the size of a 15ml bottle.
Its all about supply and demand... Manufacturing costs go up as does the economy... Rhodium's not cheap!!!
He told everybody several times that the first (well really it was two batches) pre-order was going to be significantly cheaper and they were available for quite some time. I guess he wasn't joking.
I use a kicked K100 and a kicked Nemesis clone.
Here's a pic of them, each without a tank (and with an 18650 battery, for sizing). The Neme's smaller, but I prefer the feel and firing of the K100.
note: I removed the chrome plate (which was wearing) from the K100, revealing the copper and brass underneath
