I received my 1st Vapor Zeus and Smileo this week. The first couple of days were great with the Smileo-lots of Vapor and pretty good taste. Now, I think I've burnt it-3 days after receiving it. It happened when I took the Zeus off the charger. After a few vapes on the Smileo, I got the dreaded burnt taste and I can't get rid of it. I'm pretty sure the Smileo still had plenty of juice in it, as it was still producing lots of vapor. It seems like the battery came off the charger "hot". Should I have let the battery rest for awhile before I tried using it? Do you think a cleaning will resurrect this Smileo? I did buy a 2nd Smileo, so I guess I'll try again. I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere. I haven't been on the V4L forum in months,

Thanks JenJen for the input, seems like we were thinking the same thing at the same time. I should point out that I never experience a burnt taste in my smileo but rather the flavor starts to taste old and not so good once I hit the life span of the smileo. I also notice that trying to inhale, take a hit from the smileo it becomes harder and harder as it gets older. So when the taste goes bad (not burnt) and it’s harder to inhale I know I am reaching the end of the smileo which is about a week.

Now I will admit if I had two smileo’s going and switch back and forth between the two it would last twice as long. But doesn’t that imply if you use two smiles in 3 weeks that you are basically going through one smileo in about 10 days or am I misunderstanding. I only use one smileo at a time and only one juice.

I might also be getting my smileo to hot while vaping on it, that could be reducing the life span by a few days. I’ll have to try reducing the heat on the smileo (amount I vape at one time). In the end I am pretty convinced that the smileo’s weren’t designed to last much more than a week (assuming you use one smileo at a time).

Yes, that is true. Because I use 2 at a time it does make it roughly a week and a half per smileo, but I do have to add that I have never burnt a smileo and tend to toss them the minute they aren't hitting as well as they did at the start (I am very fussy about my vaping) so I am sure they would last longer if I gave them a chance. I'll let you know how well the soaking in Vodka for 24 hours then rinsing well and drying works out - this is the first time I have done the cleaning thing and plan to give it a try as soon as the ones I am using now fizzle out. lol I must say, they look sparkling new after their bath - we'll see how they perform! ;)

Ms. Jingles don't think it was your battery that came off hot, most likely it was the smileo was lower on juice than you think. Being a mega style carto they still suffer from the one drawback all mega cartos do, once they get emptied to a certain point not all of the coil gets wicked/ leading to a burn problem. If you haven't filled a smileo but killed a Zeus on it, fill it before using it again.

From what I am gathering it looks like many people here are averaging about 10 days out of a smileo (not everyone but many). I suppose I could try pushing my 7 days to 10 on a smileo and see if that works. I know when I started my tanks long ago I was pushing 10 days but because they were so inexpensive I changed them out every 7 days.

Getting back to the main point though: Under current pricing the smileo’s are not cost effective when compared to the tanks. Now that doesn’t mean people won’t use them, I am still buying them but my guess is that a more competitive price would draw in far more customers. The current pricing makes it a very questionable purchase for me, right on the borderline and I it wouldn’t surprise me if others are in the same position. True, some people will pay any price. I don’t mind paying a little more for better quality but when it hits more than double the cost of a tank filter and last about the same it is getting questionable. Thankful BHam has heard the argument and is passing onto management.

Jasbur hits upon a really good point. I agree with Jasbur, you don’t need a new mouthpiece with every purchase and perhaps but selling smileo’s without a mouthpiece might make a easy way to offer a cheaper smileo.

Mcol I think what Nailz is saying is: From time to time V4L offers there discounts on already discounted items. I have used this a couple times where the daily sales that come out once in a while can apply to already discounted items. It doesn’t happen often but does happen. I also agree, I would never pay the “list” price for the smileo’s, my assumption is very few to none would pay that much and that is why it remains at the “special price”. Everyone has a limit to what they are willing to pay, even for better quality products.

I'll chime in and say I too believe life span is effected by the type of juice used. I use the small 3.5 mil smileos exclusively for the past 3 months. Also I use just one flavor Wowboy most of the time. I am getting about 10 days use on a Smileo before the performace drops off drastically and the draw gets really tight.

I have tried cleaning them in very hot water and flushing with a turkey baster and letting them dry for three days. My success cleaning this way has been mixed. Some come back to near normal performace and others do not. I have not tried the added step of a vodka soak so that will be my next step.
You've got to use alcohol of some kind I use isopropyl(rubbing alcohol)to clean mine, just can't waste liquor :).The only thing that will take of the flavor residue on them coils.Add the next step and see the world of difference and saving $$$$.Just never burn them, u do nothing brings them back to life as I'm sure u already know :)

as much as i love my zeus i have to say the cartos are absurdly overpriced

7.50 a piece? a package of 5 dual coil 3.5mil boge cartos that perform similarly is cheaper than 1 of these cartos. Also, what is up with the fake list price of 9.99 a piece? they've been "discounted" to 7.50 since they went up for sale. i like the zeus a lot but i can't justify using it all the time until the cartos get cheaper somehow.

That's what I meant. They list them regularly sold at a much higher price, discounted down. And none of the sales codes
work with them. Just changed out one tonite, the draw was tight for me. Have it soaking in alcohol. That being said is there
nothing better than filling a fresh smileo? Kinda like that new car feeling. KINDA. =)

I think the most comparable to the smileo is maybe the Ego cartomizer sytem:

EGO 1.5 ohm Dual Coil Mega Cartomizer hold 5mls - $3.90 List price $3.96

Smileomizer 2.5 ohm hold 6mls - $8.99 List price $16.44
From V4L description of smileo’s “…can be refilled 12+ times”. I still say if the smileo was designed to last several weeks to a month the number in there description would be far greater than 12+ but more like 30+. If the smileo typically did last a month one could justify the much greater cost in the smileo.

There is a very significant increase in price of smileo ($8.99) compared to the comparable EGO cartomizer price ($3.90).

Now for tanks:
Replacement Cartomizer for a tank - $2.65 list price $2.95
The actual tank is $15.00 but I have been using the same tank I bought more than a year and a half ago so the tank itself isn’t a cost concern compared to the actual replacement cartomizer.

The smileo is lasting me about 7 days and the tank cartomizer is lasting me about 7 days. So for price only comparison it is $8.99 smileo price compared to $2.65 tank cartomizer replacement price. For someone on a tight budget it’s a no brainer in what system is cost effective.

One can easily tell that the smileo is far greater in price (a huge increase in price) compared to tanks or the Ego system. As I said before I don’t mind paying a “little” more for better quality but that isn’t a little though I also believe that V4L is more than entitled to make a profit and I don’t know what their profit margin is with these smileo’s.

Well nobody has to buy smileos if they don't think they are worth the price. I stocked up big time when they had them on sale a while back and will keep buying them, stocking up when the price is right. I myself don't care for the the tanks, they are messy and too bulky for my tastes. Most people have said that cleaning them then refilling makes them as good as new, and while I haven't tried the ones I cleaned yet to verify, they certainly look as good as new. That will double their use and help with the cost efficiency. But to be honest, I just really like them better than anything else I have used and that makes it worth it to me. As with most new things, I am sure the price will eventually go down on them, but for now it is still cheaper than smoking, and better for me so I will happily pay the price for vaping nirvana! ;)

Over the weekend I ordered 20 more of them, in small size.
Just can't get myself to order those large ones. At $2/day it is
acceptable, but high. And I will use them half days now. I think
they are very convenient. I will be anxious to see how cleaning and
re-using them works out and how long they last that way.

Thing is, here in Missouri cigs are cheap - can buy a pack for $2/pack.
So my cost factor is weighed in on that, want to stay at least the same price.
I can - but can I do it with Smilies. That is the question.
Haven't tried tanks yet, but have a couple here to try.

Well this sure is odd. Not very common to see customers rallying together to suggest they are paying a fair price for product rather than rally around to suggest it should be decreased in price. So be it. Maybe the next question should be: Should we rally around in support of a price increase for these smileo’s since everyone seems to like them so much and seems so displeased when someone says they are overpriced?

As I said many time before – I like the smileo’s, I like them enough I bought 20 more but sorry that I happen to think they tend to be over priced compared to counter parts that V4L sells.

Makes the first time I have seen costumers rally around to fend off another costumer who suggest the price is too high – go figure.

lol! Well I can assure you - if they bring down the price (and they will) you will not hear me complaining! ;)

Thing is, where I live cigarettes are about $5 per pack. So all things considered, the smileos are still much cheaper than if I were paying for cigarettes. I am stunned to see that cigarettes in Missouri are only $2 a pack! WOW!

We have the lowest state cigarette tax in the nation. Not all cigs are $2/pack, but the kind I used to buy
are. Our state cigarette tax is only SEVENTEEN CENTS a pack. The state likes to keep it that low cuz we
are centrally located in the U.S., and get lots and lots of people from surrounding states driving here to
buy their smokes.
