I'm pretty sure that is a bad idea.

Off the top of my head, I don't recall the reason why. I do remember reading several past threads of folks using tin foil in the battery compartment of their mods and they always were always moved (by a forum moderator) to the "Not Recommended" sub-forum. I tried to find this forum to document "why" that is a bad practice, but I can't seem to find it.
Here ya go.

Get some popcorn or a fresh pot of coffee if you want to catch up. :D

Thanks! :)

Need Help for a battery.hack -
Is it safe to use a dime as a battery spacer????????
convert button top to flat top battery- small trick :)

I only went through the first dozen pages, there's probably more. My main point is you shouldn't put anything between the battery and battery contacts.

If you have to consider adding a "spacer" to make a battery fit a mod, do so at your own risk. You'll be at risk of shorting out the battery and causing a potential catastrophe. If a battery doesn't fit the mod, then the mod was poorly designed and needs to be returned to the supplier/manufacturer with an explanation of the issue, or retired.

On the negative side it wouldn't be too much of a problem (though it probably wouldn't be the best for conductivity) but on the positive side there's real risk of bridging the positive and negative and thus shorting the battery. Not a good idea.

Hello ladies and gentlemen.
My wife uses one of these al85.
It's fairly cheap and she's dropped it about 5 or 6 times on to a concrete floor. It serves its purpose and it doesn't break the bank to just buy another one. Hers after you change the battery jumps the watts to 80 from the regular 20 that she uses all by itself. I'm new to all of this but I do feel that smok al85 have some electronic glitches. I use a sigelei Spectrum Kaos double battery. good for 8 months so far. Hers does have electronical glitches from time to time but it still works and it's about 6 months old nothing lasts forever.IMHO
Could she accidentally pressing the little button on the screen? I also have an al85, and apparently that's what I was doing. In doing so changes the wattage. Press the left side of the button to turn the watts down and the right side of the button turns it up.

Solved. I think.

After 3 days restarting, inserting foil, pulling batteries etc I had a brainfart. Only thing I hadn't done is change coil or remove the tank. Tank removal also resets circuits, perhaps ones not reset by battery alone.

I removed the tank, dried up some overflow juice and replaced the tank. Bingo! It works fine now. No instant battery low warnings.
