I did notice my predator has a faster ramp up time compared to my older evo75 mod, but that's most likely due to the fact one is a single battery mod and the other a dual. Otherwise i don't think there's a big difference. Otherwise yeah most smok coils don't seem to wick fast enough when you go on higher wattage and they tend to burn quicker without those poked holes, though imho they drink too much juice for what little flavor they provide (at least compared to even the rba base i'm using right now stock coils didn't have that level of flavor tbh)I honestly believe that some devices just seem to produce power more efficiently. It may be in how they are actually reading the tank/mod-- my Steampunk was just more powerful compared to a lot of my other mods, rather than trying to adjust voltage settings (since it's pretty consistent) I just reduced watts. So, it's possible that one mod is reading the coil slightly differently than another-- My steampunk consistently reads slightly higher, but since it's totally consistent, I don't worry about it too much. It's not outside the realm of possibility, but regardless of mod, since a coil needs to be primed anyway, and each individual coil performs slightly differently, due to slight manufacturing changes (IMO, anyway, my BVC Nauti coils don't all read the exact same resistance) as well as coil life, I'm tweaking it anyway.... I may actually turn DOWN my watts as my coil breaks in after about a tank of juice, as it's flowing more efficiently and I get more vape... So, wattage (for me) is a kind of fluid thing, and it will change as my coil changes and breaks in.
But, I could see that happening. I still think overall, some Smok coils need a poke or two into the cotton to avoid the risk of dry hits, I've heard it repeatedly (though I don't have any Smok coils or tanks).

Dry hits are a coil issue. Im confused as to how a particular mod could cause this.Been following this thread and really doesn't make any sense. I use an alien and have no such problems. I run mine with the cloud beast at 90 watts sometimes more. Really sorry I have no answer to this problem. Vape on.

I am wondering if the Alien could be reading the OHMs of the coil wrong. I had this happen with another Smok mod, but instead of dry hits, I was getting weak hits. Maybe an update on the mod? I have never had to poke holes in my coils for them to feed right, and if they are performing correctly on your other mod, it is probably an issue with the Alien.

what in gawds name are you trying to say LOL jibberish much megladonSmok will probaly hate me for posting this before i only go one day with 1000 puff then coil get burnt turn out over time your cotton siezed up nktnallowing enough juice to gwt into the wick so jistbdonwhat i say then bam like night and day
Also I tried this and it didn't work unfortunately...I have same issue with smok alien 220
Finally i find the solution
Go to mode then select temp then make sure the coil is TC-in not ss
Then change the mode back to watt
