i've read the triton .4 ohm coils are ss. so with a bit of fiddling in the settings i should be able to use these tc, is that correct?

Maybe, but not by design. The Koopor only supports Titanium and Ni200, with a TCR scale that only goes down to 0.004. The TCR of SS 304 is 0.001.

If the Koopor is accurate, then the lowest temperature available for SS will be about 260°C / 500°F, achieved by running the coil in Titanium mode set to 200°F. That is assuming they use SS 304 - if it's 316 or 317, then it won't be possible to use TC (it would heat to over 600°F). I have no idea which SS they use for those coils, but we could work it out if someone dismantles one and measures the resistance, length and thickness of the wire (assuming of course Aspire hasn't listed it on their website or product description.)

260/500 is a bit too high for normal TC. It will prevent some dry hits, but it's going to burn cotton and rayon so it's not what we'd normally consider fully working TC.

Some Titanium mods underheat the coil -ie a setting of 450°F actually only achieves 400, or whatever. If the Koopor does this, then 200°F might actually only achieve, say 230°C/450°F at the coil, which is a good TC temp (at least it is for Rayon; it might singe cotton.) An example of a mod where this seems to work is the joyetech EVic-VT (the original one not the mini)

I will be temp testing the Koopor soon so will let you know.

Not with the current Koopor Mini firmware. Can't get the TCR down low enough for any grade of stainless. Maybe later firmware updates will work, but Smok hasn't figured out SS for the X Cube II yet, let alone the Koopor Mini/Treebox.

All they need is to give us a wider range for TCR. It's easy to program the board for that.

if the TCR is only adjustable to 0.004, what TCR are they using for Ti mode me wonders?!?!

ps,. the screen is bl00dy awful....

Yeah I wondered that - but I think they do use 0.0035 for Titanium (or at least, that's their intention - accuracy is another matter) and the TCR is meant to apply only for Ni200. It's the same range as the XCube 2 provides in Ni200-only mode.

And yes the screen is pretty bad. It reminds me of old CRTs, or 8-bit computing days :) But @AlaskaVaper says it gets a lot better if you remove the screen cover.

It's a strange choice, because the screen - like the board - is the same as the M80, but the M80 looks sharper as well as brighter. I might see if I can access the screen like Alaska did.

On the upside, it has a nice feel in the hand. Something about the feel of the polished metal. And the battery door works fine for me - I heard of people saying it didn't work well, but mine seems fine. Never moves unintentionally as I hold it, but comes right off when I want it to.

Yup vt-100 terminal leaps to mind...showing my age again!
How do you get the screen cover off?? Is that a good idea anyway?

Overall it feels nice and the build quality seems pretty good. Havent fired it up yet but will this evening.

Fellas, if you don't want to apply heat to the plastic screen cover, a razor blade and some leverage works. And I wouldn't worry too much about not having a screen protector, the actual OLED screen underneath is glass, and there's plenty of mods with exposed displays out there.

KOOPOR™ - Young is our attitude!

sorry if someone already posted this...
Their marketing is rather hilarious, starting off with the page title "Young is our attitude", but not to be outdone by "Aside from superb performance, the KOOPOR Plus is the definition of fresh and aesthetic. It’s guaranteed to make heads turn!", "The bottom of the box is full of small air holes, which are not only for decoration, but also for venting gases", "Oh, no! Don’t tell me you are still using screwdriver to replace battery. That sucks, doesn’t it?". There is also this incredibly useful graph:

plus-5.jpg

If that doesn't make me want to buy a mod, I don't know what will.

Well, clearly, nobody likes a noodly vape. Unless you're a Pastafarian.

Secret trick!
One of the biggest complaints about the mini is the incredibly fast menu timeout like for example when you want to read your puff counter you can't because the screen times out way to quickly.

The secret?

Hold the fire button. That's it, as long as you're holding down the fire button the menu screen you are in will stay and the up and down keys still function normally so you can make any changes or selections you need to. And don't worry, while in the menu, you can't fire the atty.

Hope this helps you, I know it sure is more convenient for me.

i haven't tried this as mine is in transit, i hope it does work!

Nice trick, thanks!

The menu system is pretty dumb - I wish Smok would get over this idea that menus have to be operable one-handed, such that they assign fire to "next" rather than "select". There's only three buttons to start with and you want to assign two of them to the same thing? Great.

I could kind of understand it - though still dislike it - on the XCube 2 with its chunky layout and relative ease of pressing fire versus up/down. But there, fire operates in two modes, tap or hold, so you do still have three separate control operations available. On the Koopor there's only tap, and so they have to use timeouts, and the whole thing makes absolutely no sense at all. If you could press fire to select there would be no timeouts, so not only would it prevent it ever being too fast to use, it would actually make it much faster to use!

I'm interested in your thermocouple testing. Get on it! ;)

EDIT: It's probably going to be difficult to test without a wet coil.

Great tip! It does work, and solves a big problem for me: small type + old eyes = the need for a long time out on the screen.

Im no better, Koopor and evic vct mini in the post, boxer 133 happening somewhere....totally out of control...
That Boxer looks like a really fine device. I saw a review by Mike "hit that ...." Vapes and he had both the gray colored Lipo version and a white 133 dual 18650 version. The aesthetics of both were lovely and if price was not an impediment for me I would love to own either one.
