So I'm at my neighbors house. She's cleaning her sons room and I'm standing in the doorway talking to her and vaping on Boba's, blowing the vapor away from her into the hall. Bam! The smoke alarm in the hall goes off! The moral of that story... Boba's Bounty sets off smoke detectors! Nice!

have you ever heard of a PV setting off a smoke detector besides this time?

I didn't think it was possible either. I thought they just "sniffed" for smoke particles. So I googled it. Photo Electric smoke detectors have a light beam in them and when "smoke" gets in the way of the beam... the alarm goes off.

I can attest to this 100%. The same thing happened to me. I was sitting in my recliner, vaping Bobas in a tank mod at 6v. Obviously it was putting out ridiculous vapor. About 15 minutes after I sat down, my smoke alarm (which is across the room about 15-20 feet away) starts going crazy. It scared the crap out of me, because it didn't even enter my mind that the vapor was doing. It's a SMOKE alarm after all...

at 260 degrees Celsius or 536 Fahrenheit which you aren't going to reach in an atomizer. They will pop long before that. You will find this toxin in cigarettes, however, but it must have combustion before this happens. With average atomizer temps running from 104 F to 201 F (40C - 93.8C) you are not going to change the structure of VG or PG...yes it can happen with PG as well. Your mouth would be blistered badly and you wouldn't be able to vape, a long time before your atomizers reached those temps.

Put aside your fears or research the issue. You just posted two sentences that equate to "VG is toxic" and that isn't true.

One point is true though. If you heat it up enough; almost anything can produce a toxin. This goes for marshmallows so be extra careful with those things around fires!

Some smoke alarms are set off my heat and it is possible to have it go off.

Good post, Porphy. I wonder if my 15 year old smoke detectoe has a photo eye that looks for smoke. I will try that tonight(before the kids go to sleep)......or, I suppose if they annoy me after work today, I shall test it out about midnight.

I have a smoke alarm just outside my bathroom door. If I don't remember to turn on the bathroom exhaust fan when I take a hot shower, the steam (water vapor) sets off the alarm.

hmm... well... I know a few friends who get away with vaping in airplane bathrooms. although, they were not vaping boba's... some PG juice I think on a standard kr808 but I'll keep that in mind in case I try it. Sure as hell don't wanna set those things off on a plane. Anyone seen the second Harold & Kumar movie... "No I'm not a terrorist, it's just an atomizer..."

Yep, if it is the optical functioning smoke detector any thing from a vaccume bag being ripped open in the vacinity to shower steam or ecig vaper will set it off. Nothing more than that and most modern detectors are the photo sensetive type.

I vaped Boba's on an 11 hour flight from S. Korea last year and had the restroom fogged over and it was fine. I don't recommend doing this but at the time and mid-nic-fit I was willing to deal with the repercussions . Though by time I finished the flight I was easily stealth vaping in my seat (just gave my exhale a 3 count and blew out through my nose)
