I purchased two smoke fifty one batteries with cartridges and have used them for the past few weeks. I have been charging them and they were working fine but recently both of them no longer work, the light blinks a few times and nothing else happens. I am sure they are charged because I left them charging for a few hours and the light went from red to green as usual. I tried different cartridges without success, I was wondering if anyone else experienced this and if there are recommendations for a different e cigarette I can buy with better quality?
Thanks

Hmm, sorry to hear your having problems. Its also quite odd (yet not impossible) that you have two failed batteries.

What happens if you "blow" thru the cig rather than suck (what does the L.E.D lite do) and THEN take a draw ?

I would suggest, since you have nothing to lose, to try leaving a battery on the charger for about 8 hours regardless of what the charger indicator lights colour indicates. And should that get the one battery going again, follow thru with the other.

I was having problems with mine in the beginning having not read the instructions about giving the batteries an initial 8hr charge, and then the usual 4hr re-charges thereafter.

In the end, I ended up having one defective battery and the other one woke up (for lack of a proper term), and has not given me any issue since.

It is quite possible you ended up with TWO failed batteries, certainly not impossible, so if doing what I mentioned doesnt help, simply email your supplier that you bought it from and they will instruct you to return them for replacement. There is a ONE year warranty on batteries from Smoke-51.

With the price you have paid for the Smoke-51 it would be in your interest to do this and not pack it in as a BAD product and move on because its really not that at all. Its simply battery technology/reliability not meeting the demand of what we're doing with them yet.

Either way, I guaratee you will be buying different toys down the road to supplement your new found habbit just because its human nature to experiment.

Having said that, I've been very please with my Smoke-51 myself, and especially at the customer service support.

Good luck, and let us know how it works out for you with my suggestion or replacement.

Thanks for all the replies, I will consider calling the company to see what they can do for me but I did buy it off of ebay because it was less costly. The problem is that when I do use a new atomizer cartridge it starts to work but after a few puffs the light blinks and the manual indicates that this means I am using the product too much. Considering that each cartridge runs about $3 it does not make sense for them to only work for a few puffs, I am thinking that buying the cartridges from ebay was also a bad idea. Thanks for the input I will try to update what happens.

I don't own a smoke 51 e-cig but I do have a Crown7 Hydro and a Smoking Everywhere kit. I would have probably bought the Smoke51 if it wasn't for the low nicotine dosage (8mg).
Both purchased before I found this forum. I wish I would have done my homework first.

I would recommend getting a dse901 or other generic ecig. I just ordered mine from litecig last Thursday. I decided to get it because it seems like a lot of people in these forums use the 901 and have had good experiences with it. And the parts are cheaper to replace then the parts on the cigs i currently own. Also, you can buy juice to refill em so you get strong hits every time. Dont think you can refill the Smoke51 because of the 2 piece design.

Anyway, good luck.

I had purchased some JC juice to experiment re-filling the cartridges, even though their design appeared to prevent it. I was interested in trying because due to there being no expiry or mfg date on the cartridge or the box it was impossible to tell how long they had been shelved.

I simply "wiggle" the blocker in the mouthpiece out (I use an angles set of mini-pliers), and drip into the cotton body (approx 10 drops.... first 5 drops, let sit a minute, then another 5 drops making sure not to "pool" the liquid), and avoiding the center hole that the "wire/atomizer" runs thru.

Then I then press the (after cleaning), blocker back in, put the little caps that the cartridges came with back on (ya, I saved then, lol) and let sit overnite to absorb properly.

To date, this has worked out fantastic for me. The cartridges that I refill have a much better hit, flavour, and longevity than the ones from the factory do/did.

And, as always, I normally will "blow" a quick puff THRU the mouthpiece FIRST in an attempt to both heat the atomizer (that is more than likely coated), as well as to start the "wicking" effect of the juice in the wad.

You do, however, need to make sure that before refilling a cart of the Smoke-51's design style make sure that it hasn't suffered over use while dried out as you will find it grossly discoloured/burnt and you'll never get rid of "that" taste nor will it absorb properly causing you to get liquid in your mouth while inhaling.

You will also notice that the "wadding" in the cartridge varies quite a bit from cart to cart. I have simply tossed out ones that had inappropriete or burnt wadding and moved on to the next one.

I also found they work better re-filling the factory ones right out of the box..... further proving that they were suffering from being dried out. I have contacted the USA supplier I purchased from and inquired about obtaining "blank" cartridges for the Smoke-51 and will advise everyone of the answer.

Hope this works out in your favour as it has mine. I too am looking into purchasing a different style to start a collection but also don't want to give up on my Smoke-51 simply because I enjoy the resemblance of an analog that it provides.

Hello,

Thanks for the update, I am really interested in the ejuice and wanted something similar to this but realized too late that smoke fifty one does not offer it. I am a little hesitant to pour liquid into the cartridges because I don't know how or what will happen, the cartridges I have received do have a dry taste to them and quickly run out. I am considering switching to the Pen Style from Puresmoker.com from some suggestions I received on this site and will keep my smoke fifty one as a backup when I go to clubs or hangout with friends so they can have something to vape on. Last night was interesting because I put the batteries into the charger and I knew that they were almost dead because the red light flashed about 10 times when I inhaled but the odd thing is that it reached a full charge in less than an hour. The instructions say 4 hours but the light changed from red to green in an hour and I tried using it which was successful. Still having a problem though, the batteries charge quickly but also die just as quickly, so I can get about 30 minutes of use out of them. It is very addicting to take consecutive hits and I take very long drags because I used to love smoking. I agree the smoke fifty one does have a nice design to it and I love it but I am going to hold on to it until the company updates their cartridges as the prices are also fairly expensive at $3 per compared to others which are even cheaper using the eliquid. So far I have been 10 days smoke free to the day :) and strangely enough this past week I didn't have any urge for a cigarette at all and some days I didn't even use the e cig which is weird because I would smoke 10-15 Marlboro 100s a day to the butts and enjoy every drag even when if I was coughing my lungs out or gagging. Overall I am pleased I switched to the e cig but with everything I do, I like to be thorough and experiment so I will definitely be trying out different models.
Let me know what happens when you contact the company and also where do you buy your eliquid from? I would find it interesting to know how you put the liquid in the cartridges, I am assuming you pour it into the white end rather than the metal?
Thanks and keep on vaping!

How long does the smoke51 cart last after you refill it? Seems like a lot of work if it doesn't last long.

yoshistr- The same thing happened to me with the e-cig. I was a 1-2 pack a day smoker. When I started smoking the e-cig, I didn't get the urge to smoke real cigarettes. I was really surprised that it worked so well because I didn't even smoke the e-cig that much and it was able to satisfy my nicotine craving.
But that lasted for about a week for me lol. I have 2-3 real cigs a day now.
But thats probably because I have a crappy "peewee" sized ecig that doesn't produce enough vapor or throat hit. Have a 901 coming in the mail so hopefully I'll be able to quit completely.

Hi yoshistr,

Please read my previous post regarding "re-filling" and how I do it. You will find it very simple to do.

Regarding your charging procedure, do as suggested.... give it an initial charge of 8-12 hrs then follow up with subsequent charges of 4 hrs regardless of what the charger LED is showing. This is what has worked for ME.

Unfortunately, you will NOT get a satisfying second consecutive hit taking LONG hauls off this set up (as well as many others) and will need to "adjust" your inhaling/use of an electronic cigarette.

Most report that taking "sip" type hauls (one quick to activate the automatic switch THEN immediately a longer one to get a satisfying hit with lots of vapor.

I personally think you will be hard pressed and disappointed overall if your trying to strictly replicate an exact satisfying inhale with that of an analog cigarette. After all, this is an "alternative" for replacement and not an "exact" replacement.

I received a negative response to obtaining "blank" cartridges from Smoke-51 and they suggested I could simply add e-juice to a new cartridge to satisfy my wants. I have replied to them (quite a long reply actually) in regards to getting up to speed to customer demands before losing out on market share due to dis-satisfaction.

I have had many ongoing interactive communications with them covering many many questions, suggestions and ideas in an effort to better the product. And I can only hope that I can personally impact productivity, as well as quality, through my endevours.

Regarding the juice I use, I had previously mentioned I use JC juice which is Johnson Creek juice. As you will read throughout the forum.... they are having issues related to their product turning green which has started a panic with users unfounded or not.

Christian, at Johnson Creek, has assured me that samples of a returned affected juice, along with previous batch samples, have been sent to their lab for testing and is expecting a report that he will release to the public in approximately the week of Jan.22nd.

I myself have not had any issue with the product what so ever and would much rather be dealing with a local (well near local, as they are in the USA), supplier using "natural" flavourings rather than put my trust into a company in China with all the latest health related issues that have been in the headline as of late.

But, I'm also not your average joe.... I take this quite seriously when dealing with MY delivery system and I'm quite systematic and sterile in my handling of anything related to it.

As far as the procedure for e-juice (read my previous post of how "I" do it), and search out the video links here in the forum or directly on YouTube to see how the juice is dripped into the cartridge keeping in mind that you will need to do things a little different to work with the Smoke-51 cartridge as I have explained.

Hi aasupplyny,

I can not answer your question accuately simply because when I started using the e-cig device my intention was not to quit analogs, but rather to suppliment and reduce my intake of 2-3 packs a day.

I have drastically reduce my intake of analogs which I can physically feel a difference with my body, and since that makes me happy (and my wife, lol) I have acheived a positive goal. Maybe some day I'll quit analogs all together, but I refuse to pressure myself into it.

To address your question (sorry I drifted a bit there), I can only tell you that it has GREATLY lengthend the time of use when compared to using a packaged cartridge from the mfg.

Add to that the variety of flavours available now to me, as well as the strengths of nicotine available, and it makes me a much more satisfied user.

To both of you and anyone else taking an interest in my posts....... I will be updating and adding to related postings ANY information I receive whether positive or negative in nature as it is acquired.

so glad I found this forum! I have a battery "go dead" on me and when I read the post about blowing first, I tried that. Imagine my surprise when liquid started pouring from the other end of the batter! not only that, but the battery came on and remained on until its time-out.. then kept coming back on.. so I grabbed a few puffs and disconnected the battery, since the filter was getting very hot.

Seems I should have been more careful when refilling my cartridges (I purchased pre-filled filters from esmoke.net, but decided to try e-juice since it was cheaper - worked just fine).. I obviously overfilled a couple and apparently the battery shorted out. So now I am sitting typing while I wait for the charge on that battery to drain.. don't know what I'm going to do to try and dry it out...
