I purchased an e-cig in the mall - Smoke Free Dual is the name of it. The battery was charged for 6 hrs the first time as instructed, but it died after a few hours. We replaced that part and the new one still isn't holding a charge - actually doesn't seem to charge at all (even though the light is green). The other problem is they said after the initial charge, you only charge it for "2 hours" (so as not to "overcharge"). This is very difficult to try to charge it ONLY for 2 hrs exactly (IF it were working at all).

I'm wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the battery on this type of e-cig? I'm getting ready to take it back to the mall - not sure if I can get my money back, but I'm wondering if this was a bad choice. If so, where would I look for a better brand? I have never really seen these except in the mall. Thank you!!!

Ah one of those "free" $130 value type deals :?:

I still can't figure out how they figured the value on that $20 kit!

But, now that you're here, do yourself a favor and look around. You will find lots of information on what works well and what doesn't.

...not to be the bearer of bad news but, you probably got taken...as many have before you...2hrs of batt life would be good on one of those models...if you can return it, you should...a rule of thumb is, the more it looks like a ciggy, the worse it's performance...

The Riva510 from liberty-flights.com is the minimum I would recommend...it will give reliable performance upto around 6hrs ...the KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit or E-Power From Smok Tech and HECS will double that...these all have 510 threading which has the most gear available for it...these do not come with pre-filled cartridges and you will havvta buy some juice and fill your own...a major money saver...too that end, you will need to get some cartomizers for them(much less fiddly and more fool proof than the atty/carts that come with them)...get a couple of 5pks of them 2.0 ohm low resistance cartomizers

Look at Joye 510 manuals (and use with blank cartomizers like Boge 3 ohm) but it's only 180mah charge (about 1.8 hours of vaping)

Or if you want prefilled cartomizers I recommend SmokelessImage "Volt" manuals instead, 78mm for the 320mah battery (makes 120mm long ecig)

And if you want more charge than that I recommend skipping to the fat batteries (Ego, Riva 510 etc) or mods, and these 450mah+ batteries (typically 650mah+) can also use the hotter LR (lower ohms) atomizers and cartomizers.

Now that you are here, the hardware is the easy part. Any of the kits listed above will serve your needs well.

    I use these batts:
eGo 510 650mAh USB Passthrough Battery

    With these cartos:
    Crystal Clear Vaping

Some say that I'm not running enough battery for that carto. Meh.

The difficult part, and we can help guide you where we have gone; but not, perhaps, where you want to be.......
    Flavor. It's just so subjective.

Buy several small bottles of juice. You really won't know what you will like. Even vendor to vendor there can be a big flavor difference.

    in a cave, eh?
I think you're better off not putting any more money into your Smoke Free kit. I might be able to find you some better sites to buy parts for it, but I don't recommend it.

If you want something that looks like a cig, my preference would be a KR808D-1 kit, performance-wise. The aforementioned Volt is one such kit I think you'd like.

The Joye 510 kit still works well, however, and is cheaper than the 808.

And if you're thinking long-term, the Ego or Riva 510 would be a better investment. They're bigger, about the size of a Sharpie marker, but they hold a much longer charge and there are more options to customize your vape. They will handle LR cartomizers, for example, that the 510 and 808 won't. You might like the Boge 2.0 ohm (LR) cartomizers. Or even a SmokTech Dual-Coil Carto Tank (DCT).

If you're interested in an Ego-T (the tank version), I would recommend you get Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers and an Ego cone to go with it. Several new members have been unhappy with leaks from the Ego-T tanks. The regular tank also mutes the taste of your juice.

So, sites that'll give you a good deal that you might want to look into would be: SmokelessImage.com (Volt), Liberty-Flights.com (Joye 510, Ego, Riva-510) and Eastmall.net (DVP99 aka 808, Ego, Riva-510, Riva-T).

Ask lots of questions. Once you get the hang of e-cigarettes, its pretty easy but you should have a lot of questions in the beginning.

The smoke free ecig was my first one too. It works okay but it's horribly overpriced and doesn't give you many options. I never had a problem though with my battery. Mine still works fine, but I use another ecig now. Ha I'll sell you mine for cheap if you really want it.
Unfortunately your not going to get your money back. They dont give any refunds, which sucks bc it's expensive. They do have a lifetime warranty on the battery though which is nice. Take it back to the kiosk and they will give you a new one. Don't call in to get a new one bc that takes awhile. So you could go get another battery if yu want to keep using the smoke free.
I recommend just cutting your losses and getting a better ecig. I know it sucks but it will save you money in the long run. I find the smokefree prefilled cartos dont refill well, and the prefilled ones are really expensive. A better ecig will allow gou to buy empty cartos and the fill your own, which is alot cheaper so youll make your money back that way. It will also open up to you the thousands of different juices that tou could use.
Most people make a not so smart first ecig purchase. I got ordered a better ecig 2 weeks after starting with the smoke free. I was ...... that I wasted money, but think of it as it showed you that you like vaping and would like to pursue it. And if it started getting you off cigs then it's money we'll spent.
I now use an EPower and am much happier. It's a way better cig and actually CHEAPER than the smoke free, and by a good bit. Many companies sell a very basic starter kit for an outrageous price bc they know heir customers don't know any better. My batteries for my EPower last a day and a half and it opens up so many other options of things to use. If you want another ecig that looks like a real cig, then there are a few that are cheaper than the smoke free and work well, like the ones from vapor4life, bloog planet, halo g6, and some others. Slim ecigs don't have long battery life though so if you vape a good bit your going to have to recharge batteries numerous times throughout the day.
If your willing to get over it not looking like a cig(which most people do fairly quickly), then you could get a bigger battery PV that will last a lot longer. Anything you get I recommend getting a manual battery. The automatics, like the smokefree, can potentially get ruined if juice leaks into them. They manuals are sealed and they also allow you to have more control over your vape. Most people get used to the manual batts very quickly. A bigger battery PV will also allow you to use low resistance attys and cartos. Slim ecigs should only use standard resistance cartos/attys. Low resistance cartos will give you a warmer vape and more TH. alot of people prefer the LR cartos over SR. LR cartos simulate Higher voltage vaping.
I recommend going with a 3.7V PV like a Riva, kGo, or EPower. They all have 510 connections which is the most popular so you'll be able to use many different attys and cartos. They all have great battery life and are affordable. The eGo is also a great PV. Many people like their eGos and their very popular, but I prefer the 3.7V PVs over The egos bc they are 3.4V.
The 3.7V PVs will give a slightly warmer vape and more TH than an eGo. They also handle LR attys/cartos much better. A real low ohms carto, like a 1.5ohm, can fry an eGo. If you get an eGo I don't recommend using anything lower than 2.0ohms. The Boge 2.0ohm cartos work great on the eGo and are very popular. Some people do use lower ohm cartos on an eGo without problems, but alot of people have fried their eGos using 1.5 or 1.7ohm cartos. That's why I like and recommend the 3.7V PVs more, especially of you like and/or are planning on using LR cartos/attys. 3.7V PVs will handle the low resistances better and are less likely to fail.
The riva is popular and works great. They have different size mah batteries you can choose from. Liberty Flights has a great deal for the Riva. Remember to hit 20% off coupon in on top left first.
The kGo works very well and has long battery battery life, 1100mah. 100mah = about an hour of vaping. So most kGo users get a full day on one battery. Hoosier ecig supply has a good deal for them and so does darkcity vapors.
The EPower is also a nice 3.7V, and like I said is what I use. The big difference for the EPower compared to the other 2 is that is uses non-proprietary batteries. For the eGo/kGo/Rivas the tube battery and switch is all one piece. So if you need a new battery or your switch goes, you have to replace the whole unit. With the EPower the tube, battery, and switch are all seperate and can be bought individually. That's what I really liked bc it helps keep costs down. If you need a new switch you can replace just the switch and keep using your existing tube and battery. Also the EPower batteries cost $4 compared to eGo/kGo/Riva batteries that are $14-20, and the Epower batteries last longer before they need to be replaced. The batteries are 1050mah and you get 2 with the kit so you never really have to worry about running out of power. I also find it easier to carry a spare, an EPower battery is about the size of a AA but alittle longer. To carry a spare Riva/eGo/kGo you basically have to carry another unit. It's not a huge deal, but I'm out all day with work, so for me I find it's easier to carry a small EPower batt. Crystal clear vaping has a great deal for the EPower and you get about $25 in free stuff which is sweet. Free 5-pack of ressurector cartos, free 30ml juice of your choice, and free shipping. Plus put in ecf5off and you'll get 5% off the order. It's a great deal and gives you everything you need to get going. The Ressurector cartos are 1.7ohmLR and hold alittle over 2ml of juice so they last a long time before. Seeing to be refilled. They are what I use daily and they work great, give good flavor, and produce a LoT of vapor.

know it sucks sice you just dropped all that money on the smokefree kit, but I promise getting a better kit will pay off and your get a Lot better and more satisfying vape, and be much happier. If you do want to stick withyour smokefree for awhile, then I'd go exchange for another battery. Whatever you do, do NOT buy a nother battery from them. They charge $55 for one battery, which is absurd. You could get an entire KGo/riva/EPower kit for less than that. Those batteries should really cost about $10 bucks, that how much they mark them up. If you do want another battery, like I said I'll sell you mine and the charger for alot less. I think it would be better to put your money toward a new ecig instead of putting more money toward the smokefree but that's up to you. 5 cartos cost 15 bucks for the smokefree. 3 boxes of their cartos would buy you a better kit and then you could buy your own juice which is much cheaper and gives you alot More variety. You'll make your money back that way.
I think any of these kits would give yOu what you need to kick cigs for good. I couldnt be happier with my EPower. If you want it to look like a regular cig then go with one, and there are some quality slim ecigs, but most people move to a bigger battery shortly after. If you do get a Riva, kGo, or EPower def try the Ressurectors. They work awesome on all three and provide hours of hassle free quality Vaping.
Sorry that was so long, hope it helped tho.
    Goodluck!!
