So curiosity got the best of me today at Petrocan, i have seen the smokenv display with the individual disposables in the singe serve tube dealo. I bought one to figure out what bats they are, unfortunately not kr8's that i was really hoping it would be. I think they are rn4072, but its been a while since i have had one of those.. could be a 401 too... 73mm bat 1 "canadian" hard cap cartomizer, taste like a flue cured. This is really not a review, just a honorable mention to help curb other peoples curiosity. they have a webpage, and are canadian based, and are at every petrocan i have been to in the gta for the last couple of months. hopefully it brings more people here .

I've seen other brands of no-nic e-cigs recently showing up in petro-can gas stations and local 7-11's where these are displayed prominently for customers. It seems from all the recent "sightings" that are poping up in our Canada forum that a new wave of e-cigarette market/vapers/awareness is happening.

I see it differently. More and more people are buying those and thinking "This is e-cigarettes? Bleh, these are terrible!"

Yes, but then they see you using one somewhere.. They ask you how you can use something that tastes so bad. You give them a drag of yours. Problem solved.

We have seen this in the past in the US. Smoking Everywhere was the first, selling what we view as sub-par kits at a high price. That company itself it seems has faded, but they did bring a lot of people to become new vapers to forums like this.

Given the offerings we are seeing at retail, I don't see it generating any repeat business anyhow. Who would buy any of the stuff twice? If 90% of people are turned off, and 10% come here, it is a great marketing tool for vaping in general.

In my opinion, this is the greatest red herring ever!

Of course I'm simple (and excited) enough to see the perceived benefit of this very expedited exposure, however, f you look at the bigger picture, this is setting a HUGE legitimate precedent for the definition of acceptable e cigs in Canada.

Looking not too far into the distant future......

An e cig in Canada is:

1. A no nicotine product that is a novelty toy.

2. A no nicotine product use to quit smoking, which in actuality is the same as number 1, with the difference of a medical license to advertise and sell it as such.

Neither case has nicotine; exactly what HC and it's BT/BP supporters have been planning for.

In my opinion, this is precisely what we don't want; I believe the same would be the case for our suppliers if they took a harder look at what this truly means.

IMO, there is no e cig without nicotine; it's a toy.....not to say that it could not be used as advertised, but let's face it.....nicotine, like caffeine or alcohol, is the driving factor for sales and a viable future for our businesses.

With the kindest love to all and the sincerest of intentions......to anyone who considers this a good thing.........Please wake up.

To be devils advocate on this one:

"Through review of various studies that have been performed over the past several years one comes to realize that nicotine is not needed in the product and may not even reach any significant concentration in the blood stream."
Why not nicotine?

;)

Anyhow I do agree with what you say and toy... But sometimes the only bad PR is no PR... I've had many enquirers I wouldn't have had otherwise from users of these products.

Tobacco companies (although I hate making is association) did use actually toys to promote their products. If you are old enough, think back to candy cigarettes, candy cigars and the chewing tobacco like pack of bubble gum. That all had its purpose.

The way I see it, this is about two things, both related, and both critical: Recognition of a product, and recognition of a product as it is differentiated from a tobacco cigarette. In the first, this is about getting the concept of electronic cigarettes into the public consciousness so that when someone sees someone puffing on something, they know to ask themselves whether it's a conventional cigarette or an electronic one. In the second, and even more importantly, it is about getting people to understand that electronic cigarettes are different from conventional cigarettes, particularly in that they do not emit harmful second hand smoke and do a tiny fraction as much harm to the "smoker." In fact, it could be argued -- though there is insufficient research as yet to prove this -- that 0-nicotine E-cigarettes do no harm, and by extension show that nicotine in isolation as we know it does very little.

From my point of view these are a gateway. They may paint a somewhat negative (or at least novel but useless) view of electronic cigarettes in the short term, but they benefit us by making their existence known in whatever capacity that may be. It is from that platform that education can start.
