I know little about vaping. I am so new to this that I am in a constant struggle with trying to figure out what works best for me as far as Nicotine percentage. As a smoker, I could chain smoke (especially if very stressed) one after another and feel no ill effects. If I do it with vaping, even with 6mg, it can make me feel ill after awhile.

I am a addict. I'm a recovering alcoholic, and am wired in the brain as such. Addiction is a disease, regardless of how dangerous the vice is. I want vaping to work, but it's a real struggle sometimes as far as craving for a cigarette. I cannot afford to keep buying juices to see which one make me not feel ill.

Any suggestions? I apologize for sounding needy. I really picked a wrong time to quit smoking going through a divorce right now.

Hi and welcome! Congrats on your recovery! Many find vaping preferable to smoking, with the right PV and juice I've found it's so much better! I'd definitely suggest samplers for juices to not waste $ this is a good site for samples that are cost effective. I just ordered about 20 1 ml samples for $18. www.eliquidsamples.com

In 3 weeks of vaping I've gone from 1.5ppd of analogs to 4 or 5 analogs per day.

My advice is find what works for you, it's different for everyone :) ... And easy does it ;)

Happy vaping!

It can also depend on your device and not just the juice. If you’re using a small fixed low voltage battery, you may not have the power to deliver the satisfying vape you may be looking for. I started with a Volcano inferno, and it worked for me but I still craved regular cigarettes. Once I moved up to a variable voltage device, I’ve never craved another cig since.

I'm not an addict. I have never ruined my life or another's ove smoking. I am dependent on nicotine. I refuse to give myself an incredibly negative label like "I am an addict". :)

Take it slow. There is a learning curve. You will find that vaping is more fun than smoking, IMHO. There are different flavors to try and different PVs available.

I like to vape 24 mg in the mornings and then switch down to 18mg in the afternoons. In the evenings I vary it but if I am chain vaping then I go with a lower mg.

Best of luck to you and congrats on trying vaping. I know I feel a lot healthier.

You'll find many of us here are friends of Bill. I agree with your comment about addiction and have witnessed this over the yrs as an addiction counselor. A convert- well educated and a news anchor on a National TV station recently confided to me he had replaced his vaping with the shopping bug. He now strongly believes he's an addictive personality and as such has to be “on guard” for these types of issues.
As a volunteer counselor I’ve found the toughest addiction to beat is smoking.

NO need to apologize as we all appreciate honesty.
Some suggestions:
You may have a sensitivity to PG OR VG. Testing diff PG/ VG ratios might help.
Some with similar issues have found the solution in using WTA juices BUT I only recommend this as a last resort:

Suppliers:
Aroma Ejuice Manufacturer of WTA Whole Tobacco Alkaloid Eliquid
wholecig.com sells sample packs
Wishing You the Very Best of Luck.

Different model PV's (personal vaporizer) provide a more consistent and better vape than others. Having a good model PV is helpful. A variable watt (VW) model that is closer to "set & forget", will provide that consistency and due to it's "set & forget" advantages work well for a new person.

If you combine a better model PV with the nicotine strength eliquid that provides enough similar feel to what you smoked, you will have a better chance to transition successfully.

6mg is a VERY low level of nic strength and thus can tend to have you constantly vaping to satisfy yourself. I would suggest you have several different nicotine level eliquids in the same flavor that you can mix to what works best for you without giving you unwanted side effects. I would have some 6mg strength along with some 18mg strength. You can then mix them to any strenght inbetween those two strengths. Or you can have two cartomizers ready, one with say 6 - 8 mg strength and one with 18mg strength. When you feel the need for something stronger, then switch to the 18mg carto for some inhales.

Two good VW model PV's, one larger and one much smaller, but both that work well is the Vamo ($39) and the iTaste V3 ($50). I would check these out:

VAMO Variable Volt/Watt APV V2

Innokin iTaste VV ( V3.0) Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage Express Kit

Good Luck

I am currently using a itaste SVD and have been trying all different voltage settings. I have been experimenting for days trying to find the right one. Ill still keep trying.

It might help you if you set it to VW, if you haven't already done so.

But I would also have those different nic level eliquids on hand. You also might want to experiment with different PG/VG mixes.

What's the difference between volts and watts?

Everything you ever wanted to know about volts, watts, amps and ohms.

What's the difference between volts and watts?

From a vaping standpoint, here is the important differences.

First, both VV & VW allows you to adjust the power to the atty/carto/clearo (head) so you can have warmer or cooler vapor. Most like warmer vaper which can enhance the TH to an extent.

Second, VW also senses the resistence in the head you are using and automatically adjusts the power to the head to maintain your power perference, thus, closer to "set & forget". As you vape, every head's resistence will change through use. Plus if you change to a different ohm head, VW does the work for you.

When APV is set on VW , the watt setting will be maintained no matter what resistance the atomizer has.
Theoretically you can swap 1.8 ohm atty with a 2.4 ohm atty and the power over the circuit will remain the same so you don't need to make any adjustments. When in VV if you do the swap as above you need to increase or lover the voltage accordingly.

Been there, Done that as well.
Nothing like trying to quit smoking and get your life on track in the middle of that crap storm. I know they say vaping Nic is slower to absorb, but I find it quite quick, and can easily over Nic myself during a chain session. I keep some 22mg, and some 0mg handy. The 22 takes away the Nic fit quickly, and the 0 allows me to chain vape for compulsion. I would also suggest that you find a way to drink all the water you can. I use Tea and KoolAid, the water here is like horse piss. Low sugar and Decaf is best, but that will do wonders for you in so many other ways as well.

Stay in the Fight Brother, It isn't about winning or losing, success or failure, it's about getting out of bed and trying.

Possibly it's the flavoring making you feel a little ill. It did me when I started, especially some of the sweeter liquids.

You could try unflavored. It's not bad- sort of like a very light cigarette. 6mg is low. I would have definitely craved cigarettes when I started.
