It's good to have hope! But don't be broken-hearted when it doesn't work. The Smok app and Cube NEED BT 4.0.
As for your BT 4.0 headphones working, that's because the basic Bluetooth streaming stereo (A2DP) audio standard hasn't changed. Newer units might have additional codec support on top of A2DP (like aptX lossless streamng), but if one device in the pair doesn't support it, it defaults back to compressed A2DP.
Thing is, the X Cube II is not an audio device, it's data, and it's not designed to connect to older BT devices since it's a single mode only (read: cheap) BLE chip that only "talks" BT Low Energy, which is not supported in versions older than 4.0.

Can't get disappointed in something I felt was screwy from the get go.
Yes, kind of felt Smok would be single channel(low tech) but can't hurt to experiment. Not like my days are full anymore.

No, but I have the adapter dongles. Problem being that the 4.0 dongles all list as Windows platform. BEC is Android/IOS only so not compatable with the Pro tablet.
I have both Dell 8 platform Tablets - Android and Windows 8.
