You sure you don't have it backwards? It's been my experience that discussing politics on forums is one of the most brain (and soul) destroying things one can do.

I don't know how whiskey is for pain, but I know it really helps if you can't fall asleep.
Basically, what you do is this:
1) Can't fall asleep?
2) Pour yourself a glass and drink it
3) Wait 10 minutes
4) Still can't fall asleep?
5) Repeat steps 2 & 3 a couple of times
6) Still can't fall asleep?
7) At this point, who the eff cares, just pour yourself another one...
