Magius, there is a major difference between unprotected, safechem(imr's) and protected. I wouldn't put an unprotected batt in a mod on a bet. If you get a short on an unprotected it will go boom! IMR batts are not Li ion batts, they are Li Mg or lithium manganese. they are what is referred to as "Safe Chem" batts, If they short generally all you are going to get is a Poof and done. Protected Li Ion batts if shorted will open the protect circuit in them for protection. What is recommended by most mod Manufacturers is the IMR "Safe Chem" Batts. That is all i run. On this i do have some knowledge as I have been an Electronic Tech and Engineer for 40yrs.

magius, I use the panasonic batts in them and someone else can jump in and actually explain it, but those who know about batteries say this type (not just the pannies but others also) are better technology than the protected batts. I'm not a huge fan of many smoktech products, but I will say I love my gripper!! I have a Vtube, (like a lavatube), an ego Twist etc but my gripper beats all of these. I can't say enough good things about it. Everyone is different of course, and it is plastic, but I have had mine for probably around 6 months and it's the only thing I use. The only trouble I've had is with the threads and I got a 510 ego adapter from GV and that solved that problem.

ETA: See, I knew someone would......Woody splained it while I was typing. Hiyaaaaaaa Woodyyyyyyy
