Seems logical it's the metal case, but it's very interesting smok is not only recalling ALL, but destroying them and shutting down the line. Perhaps they know more than what we assume is the issue, one would think they would recall only the metal grooves.

Looks like there's a smok natural mod in your near future :)

Someone in the other thread said that it happened to their plastic groove as well. So it seems it is not isolated to the metal devices.

I'm going to open mine up tomorrow at work and check the deal. I really don't need an svd considering I have a provari. I like the light weight of this mod and the mah. I take it to shopping trips and what not.

When I open it up I'll look how bad the battery situation is. See where the issue might evolve from. I may be able to add some non conductive material to reinforce protection of the battery.

I have only used mine a few times, and that's why I haven't recommended it or reviewed it. I had seen some users had issues so wanted to give it a good solid test. I am going to organise either sending it back or destroying it. Not worth the hassle for me. I have good pvs that have been given a good workout. Its a nice size, but if it can go thermal that easily its not worth it.

Somewhere on the threads there's an explanation of the problem. It doesn't sound fixable to me - you might find different though.

I should add - its reminded me of why I prefer mods with removable batteries. I know what batteries I'm putting in and I can test the batteries myself.

I can't remember where I bought mine. I'm bummed because I really like my Groove and it has become my favorite PV so it is going to be hard to quit using it.:(

Look at your bank statements around the time your ordered it. It may ring a bell, log on to that vendor and check your order history.

You may like the mvp. I have one as well as the groove. Not as much mah but is definitely more rugged.

I have the MVP but the 510 connector broke off when I dropped it. I like the Groove much better anyway for several reasons besides the higher mah. It has VW, measures resistance and shows battery voltage. I will probably continue to use mine unless there are a lot of failures. Mine is one of the early plastic models and I've been using it three months without any problems. I've dropped it several times including onto a cement floor without any damage.

Same here. Mine is a couple months old and the plastic one. I really like it.
