Some good and some not so good.
Yes, your local retailer is right, there are lots of returns, mostly malfunctioning mods.
The latest VCT tanks are getting great reviews and the some of "old" (legacy) products were really quite excellent.
I wouldn't buy a mod, then again, nor would I buy a Joyetech mod.

I wouldn't probably purchase another one of their mods. Pretty cheesy quality unless you absolutely must go cheap. I bought a Smoktech VV Gripper which lasted about 6 weeks and then the LED display and control buttons collapsed into the mod body, rendering it not useful.

My first cartotanks were made by Smoktech. Worse tanks that I owned. Inexpensive, but often leaked, with poor quality parts. Not recommended. Better to spend a few more bucks on something better made like an IBTanked cartotank.

IMO, Smoktech is one of those Chinese companies that skimp on parts and materials in order to manufacture products that can be sold as cheap as possible. "We make cheap. You buy cheap. It break? You buy another."

Smoktech sold a regulated box mod similar to the iStick of today, of which a few of them autofired and burnt up (like the iStick 50). Unlike Eleaf, Smoktech voluntarily pulled their product off shelves and recalled them all. I'll give them kudos for that. Shame on iSmoka and Eleaf.

Although I don't use them any more, about the only thing I'd buy that was produced by Smoktech is their cartomizers.

+1 on Baditude's assessment there. I'd like to add that they also falsely advertised their smok m80 as being a temperature control mod when it was nothing of the sort. They really don't have the best reputation, and I'm not going to buy anything from them unless they come out with something phenomenal.

I grabbed a couple of the UDCT carto tanks, just to try that out. Discovered cartos are not for me. I did grab a Smok Galileo, as a mechanical mod, and it's not hideous, but I prefer regulated mods. I snagged the mech for my vapocolypse stash.

Baditude has been around the block a couple of times, so if he's not cracked about a particular product, I'll certainly listen. However, the ultimate decision is up to you....

Well based on the comment, I think I'll let others be the guinea pigs on these products before making a purchase. I was excited about the x cube 2 since it's a 160w tc mod for under $100. The TFV4 seemed like a neat product with the triple and quad prebuilt coils and 2 rba decks.

I do appreciate the wealth of knowledge on this forum.

Baditude's comment about the istick 50w worries me since I have one as my main device right now. I hadn't heard about any problems but if there are I may get another mod sooner rather than later.

I have 4.

2 of them purchased in March periodically auto-fire so I'm very careful with them. Took ~1 month for the problems to surface.

The other 2 (purchased in April) have zero problems.

If you want a mod under $100 that has temp control, check out the IPV3 Li. I've read a lot of good reviews on it, and with the firmware update it boasts 200w of power. You just need to buy two 20A batteries for it and a charger.

I have an M80+ as well and it's a beast. It's pretty hefty for box mod but not as heavy as some others I've held and it's as solid as a rock. I've probably dropped that thing about a dozen times and it hasn't even scratched the coating yet. Put a Subtank on it and you've got a nice solid setup that should last you for quite some time.

As far as the XCube goes, it's still very new so I haven't heard too much about it. The bluetooth features seems a big gimmicky to me and I would think it drains the battery faster so that particular mod doesn't interest me but from what I've heard of their tanks they're pretty top notch. I've been wanting to get one but I already blew my monthly budget for vape gear on a new setup for the wife and I'm quite happy with my Subtank so I don't see myself getting one any time soon. But if that's what you have your heart set on, pull the trigger and let us know how it works out for you. I'd love to see some more reviews of the XCube.
