Where is your original fill hole?

Edit: Oddly enough, I can remove the fill plug and hold the atty upside down and it won't leak from the fill hole. I'm so confused. Lol

He's running the cotton through it, kinda like a U wick. Did the same with mine, drilled out the wick hole for dual wicks then drilled another smaller hole as a fill hole.

Still looking for a replacement RSST positive post bottom insulator or even the base plate equipped with the bottom insulator.
Anyone have source for those bad boys yet? Mine is torn up and I don't dare remove it again until I have a replacement. So I can still change out the wick and coil but can't totally clean the unit.

This build on the RSST is much better than my last one, IMO. Wrapped it on a 3/32 drill bit based on advice from this thread, seems to be working pretty well.

8ish wraps, 28g, 1.4ohms.

I'll admit it. I haven't read the whole thread yet, but has anyone done an ekowool only wick? If so, have any suggestions? I coiled it up in the tank, but it seemed like the ekowool wasn't able to wick fast enough for my coil.

I tried ekowool in my old genesis atty and it didn't work well at all, but some people seem to have no issues with it. Wrapping the wire too tightly can cause wicking issues.

Well tried my hand at a genesis style this weekend......

Thoughts? It doesnt seem to want to wick very well, currently running 28g Kanthal and 300 stainless mesh...

It looks good. What's your PG/VG ratio? I think the higher numbers wick better. I only use 500 SS mesh and I use high PG (70-80%). With a very solid rolled wick. I don't have to tilt until the very bottom of the tank. Wicks great

i roll with 400 SS mesh, but HOW you roll your mesh can make just as big a difference in wicking ability as what type of mesh you use...

mine is a loose roll with a hollow core, and it works well for me with the fill hole plugged.

i used this setup with a 50/50 mix, but found it works just as well with juices with higher VG as well

YMMV

So I have an rsst, and love it for about a tank or two, then the flavor drops right out the bottom. I was puzzled until I really started to think about it. I've dry burned the coil and wick (400 mesh and a good 4/3 coil at .7, oxidized) so that wasn't it, it wicks great. So after a good session I took the atty off to check the connection and I notice juice in the connector. Then it hit me, I ran a meter across the posts and came up with a .6v drop. So I have a leak, then I noticed the heating button on the natural I was using it on. I know I'm below my amp limit on the efest batteries I use, so I'm thinking that the leak is causing a bit of a short in the atty by connecting the positive pin to the negative on the tank itself. The drop disappears, and the flavor comes right back if I clean it all up, as does the hot button. Is this possible? Has anyone else had this problem?

I didn't but I had read about RSST's leaking from the deck down thru the centerpost. I searched for "RSST Leak Fix" and came up with a couple of solutions. I ended up wrapping the center post just below the deck with about 5" of teflon plumbers tape which sealed up the space between the tank and post where the juice was running down. No juice on the connector in 2 months so far.

What gauge wire are you using and what diameter are you rolling your mesh to? Just curious to find out how you are coming out to such a low Ω rating... I am setup w/ 28g 4/3 3/32" SS cable wrapped in 400 SS mesh and am @ 1.2Ω... Even when I was running 5/64" cable in the same setup I was only @ 1Ω... By my calculations, you would have to be running a 1/16" diameter coil or smaller!!

It's a pretty small coil, but it's wicking well...I think..lol. Calipers put it at 3/32, and I'm using 28ga. Just drilled out the air hole to 1.45mm too. Any ideas why my flavor is so muted? I get a great first tank, but after that it's like tasting through a coffee filter.

And you should have SEEN the amount of juice in that hole. I wrapped some Teflon tape around the post past the plug and haven't seen a drop since. No hot switch either. The juice I'm normally vaping is yellow, but you would have thought I was using really well steeped ry4 by the color of it. I think I was right. This setup will do until I get some aga insulators to replace the delrin with.

Not too sure why your flavor is off... Do you have the air hole positioned directly in front of and centered on the coil? I am still trying to figure out how we can have almost the exact setup and your coil is .4-.5Ω less than mine!!! I just metered mine again and it was @ 1.1Ω... There shouldn't be that much of a difference between the mesh and cable setup's...

In addition to the insulated wick hole, one of the big pluses for the RSST was that the bottom of the poly tank also insulated the bottom of the mesh wick. Be interesting to find out how this new Pyrex RSST works over time. From the pictures it looks like it retains a non-conductive surface for the bottom of the mesh to rest on but also looks like it has alot of places for it to leak from the bottom of the tank and centerpost.

I have a question im rebuilding my rsst with kanthal ribbon wire , I also have the upgraded rsst center post. I have noticed the center post is longer then the stock one Im using it on a provari but my maine question is with the ribbon wire does it have to be laying flat when connecting it the positive and negative post or can i just wrap it around like i do using regular wire?

It looks as though there is a silicone gasket that covers the entire base of the tank.

Never used ribbon but I would think for the best connection it should be flat wherever it is making contact...
