This has only happened a couple of times so far, but "why don't you just quit cold turkey like I did" has been asked. As if that makes them a better person. The first time, I didn't have a good answer, but I realized I LOVE SMOKING!!!!!! I always have, and I don't want to give it up. The smoke is gone, the nicotine will go down, and my life is good! God bless e-cigs.......

I've always gotten that from Smug Non-Smokers, in addition to the Smug Ex-Smokers. Since becoming a mother, I realized that everyone wants to offer me a bunch of advice on what I need to be doing, as if they're perfect human beings. I just ignore them, or ask them why they're so interested in how I do or don't do things. That usually shuts them up.

LOL, I get that alot. I also get it from current smokers who have no desire to quit but will say something along the lines of "When I quit, it'll be cold turkey". Sooo... what are they waiting for? LOL If they were using an ecig, they'd probably be well on their way to getting off the combustibles. I think it's an open minded thing - and theirs are firmly snapped shut.

I have nothing against smokers. I was one; prolly wouldn't be here if I wasn't! But, I'm not a smoker, I'm a vaper. In fact, it bothers me to see the the "e-smoking" forum labeled as such. I'm not smoking, at all. There is no smoke! Regardless, I don't like it when smokers or ex smokers try to "one up" me as to how they're better because of their chilly poultry viewpoint!

*facepalm* I've not heard that one yet but I'm sure I will at some point.

I think my answer will be "Because I don't like doing things that are statistically likely to fail." Or possibly "The same reason I don't use a river and a rock to wash my clothes". Depending on the snark of the person I'm talking to :D

Hahaha, love it. I'll have to remember those.:D

"Why don't you quit cold turkey like I did" tends to translate to "How do you get off quitting nearly effortlessly when I had to turn into a raging virago for two weeks and still want to smoke...and can I try that vape?"

The only negative reaction I got was from an ex-smoker who used to stare hungrily whenever I lit up and breathed deeply in my presence when I smoked around him.

A fellow co-worker of mine (smoker) acts like I'm crazy when he sees my mods or if he sees ECF open on my PC.

He'll say "let's go have a cigarette", we'll go to the smoking area, he'll smoke, I'll vape, and he still gives me grief. I just tell him, "Hey, I have all this 'crazy' vape gear so I won't smoke and it's working flawlessly! Nothing really crazy about it. So what do you want?!"

He's even gone as far as to open his pack up, extend a cig out, and offer it up, "You want a real one?" I'm not even tempted, but still....really?...c'mon!

Or, how bout this one to smug exsmokers...
"OMG! *bows head* I am so pleased to be in the presence of your excellency! And I am so honored and humbled that you can even look upon me, much less address me personally. When is your golden egg due? And the parade? When is the parade?"
And for folks that currently smoke and try to entice you into having a 'real' cig....that to me sounds like they are envious of your will power and ability to quit. They kinda remind me of how a drunk likes a drinking buddy.
"C'mon...just have one wit me, huh?"
lol

That's a junkie tempting a reformed junkie to go back to the habit so he has a co-user with him.

This is why most hard substance users have to change their social groups. Relapse percentages are much higher if they hang with their old friends.

It's also not a very nice thing to do. At least in this case, my answer's always been "no," except for the one time I said yes, took two puffs, and handed it back. I felt like I needed to brush my teeth.
