really don't want to join the crowd :D as recently as the end of march my bp was 120/80 as it's always been. so why 180/81 in dr's office today? :?:
"WhiteCoat Syndrome"???

That's what my Dad's MD treated him for, but his BP readings at home
and other med visits were fine. ALWAYS sky-high at the MD office. I
got REALLY angry one time. Just kept upping it and upping it.

    Hi Bear :)
    And you too Pepper :)

Join the crowd Tibs, you’ll get there :)

Yes ma’am, I hated to go so glad it’s over with. Hopefully won’t have to go again for a couple of weeks
DD and I used to go weekly but since Covid it's been every two.

BP is easily monitored without MD visits. And - just my guess - would
provide dependable ongoing results rather than one snapshot in time
    here and there. (ie: trend)

Anger at Dad's MD: Doc wanted him to take BP daily and write down
the results. Which he did (and I made sure by looking at the monitor's
memory function). We take the readings in at the next visit, but his
BP was up through the roof. Doc even SAID "whitecoat syndrome" but
increased Dad's med regardless of the two or 3 months of daily readings.

I took the sheets of paper, wadded them up, and tossed them in the trash.
Do not make a 90+ year old take BP, write it down, then ignore it and
simply increase the med. BAD DOCTOR! BAD, BAD. He's history now, but
    just a tale worth sharing.

    Oh, and PS:

Coming up on 2 months since the car was ordered.

    :glare:

Still within expected time estimate of 60-90 days.

But, the Old Boy now has a heat shield (just a guess) that's
loose and making a racket. And embarrassing. Still driving
on snow tires. I don't want to put any more $ into it if the
new one will be delivered in, like, the next day or two. Sigh.

I've been INCREDIBLY patient, for me.

I've been on Amlodipine for a long time, Tibby. Generic name for that, and it's fairly cheap too. Works. I'm actually on a combo now.

But at any rate, it's important to keep BP in check, regardless of causes, and there's probably a "billion" of them.

    P.S.
    How's the dizziness going?

home, hospital, dr's office - way too high and i never had white coat syndrome in my life ;)

i think i can squarely take the blame - not taking the thyroid meds for 2 to 3 weeks might have done me in. checking for causes the nih uk website lists hormone imbalance/thyroid problems as a cause for high blood pressure
