in this area.. there is only 1 venomous species.. and there is no reports of anyone finding one in over 10 yrs.. we found a garter snakes.. kirtland's brown snakes.. and nothern red bellies - very rare in this area..

when i take trips to go to southern IN to hunt i bring tongs and hooks since there I am more looking for copperheads and timber rattlers..

and it is pretty safe.. when you are looking for them.. most of the bites that happen are from ppl that are not looking for them and step on them on accident..

even mosquitos?

People used to say the same of wolves. Often, the importance of a species isn't apparent, until they're gone.

No mosquitos, no bats, no bat guano... then what? The cave roach and millipede population takes a small hit? I'm hard-pressed to see a down-side there. :) Seriously, I'm pro-bat, but I'm going to have to vote for the "no mosquitos" ticket.

I've got no problem with snakes, though. The only time I've ever been bitten by a snake was clearly my own fault.

I catch and release.. did a lot of work for nature preserve's trapping and tagging to record the species in the area..

nothing wrong with eating them .. just dont go kill them because you do not like them.. in states that it is legal to hunt for food is because the population would get out of control if it wasnt done..

as far as being bit.. have been bit alot.. have been bit by a bunch of dogs and cats too.. would rather have the snake bite..

worst snake bite i had was from a 12 ft python.. had the tank open to much when i was feeding it and it hit my hand instead of the rat.. then coiled around me had to have friend help pull it off..
