Newbie here, so apologies if this has been asked.

How do snus compare to Stonewalls for WTA?

I've been using Swedish snus (different brands) for a little over a week now. Love 'em, and they scratch the itch in a way that nic gum never did. I'm no longer suffering. I'm interested in learning more about the dissolvables, though. (Also, do they come in sugar-free?)

Thanks!

Tropical Bob would be much better suited to answer, but here's what I can tell ya. DVap tested Stonewalls a while back and they do have the alkaloids just as snus does. I'll do some digging and see if I can find it, anyway, due to the size and amount of nic, one would apparently have to consume a box daily to get the rda of WTA. That's not to say some folks can't get enough, though. I need the extra stark snus to keep my lid on and Stonewalls alone wouldn't do the job, but supplementing would still be an option for me :).

Thanks, TV! I've found that about 6 stark per day do the trick nicely for me. Just got my 510, though, and have only had 2 today, and it's quittin' time. Will probably level back out once I'm over playing with my new toy...

EDIT: Has DVap considered making WTA liquid from nasal snuff?

Naw.. getting the stuff cleaned up is 90% of the battle. I've found good strong additive free tobacco works best. Lately, I've been considering extracting Stonewalls since they're low TSNA to begin with, but this, like most stuff I've done, is pretty costly, labor intensive, and messy... so it's really only proof of concept stuff for me.

Away..
I would have sworn Stonewalls didnt have it in there. Sent DVap a box to test. They are there, but Stonewalls really deliver the nic faster than I need it and I think it would take 20-30 a day......
I cant do that many. I need the WTA more than the nic I think.
I like the Java though.......it can cover the nic fast for me if needed, not the itch.
Really a shame. We need WTA enhanced Stonewall!

Vaporer, it was all in the math once I figured out that extracting and cleaning some up gave the telltale WTA odor and vaping it made me really mellow...

We know that a Stonewall contains 4 mg of nicotine, and we can figure that nicotine represents about 95% of the stonewall alkaloid content. From this, we see that we get from a box of 20 stonewalls 80 mg of nicotine and 4 mg of other alkaloids.

Turning a box of 20 into WTA at 30 mg (assuming full recovery) would produce 2.8 mL of 30 mg WTA. 2.8 mL is probably a fairly reasonable daily eliquid consumption.

Maybe 10 Stonewalls/day would produce the lower end of a reasonable WTA dose, but it seems that the sweet spot would lie closer to 15 - 20 Stonewalls/day. It's a lot easier to vape 2.8 mL than it is to suck down 20 Stonewalls (TB excepted). :D

I remember the gooey mess you described the Stonewalls had extracting. lol
TB can do the Stonewalls much better than me. That Java is just a good flavor. I want to knaw at them and if I do its instant niccups. lol
20 a day.......I think not. I'll keep them as a treat!
If you just need nic, Stonewalls fill the void.

Stubby, Ive been a test bunny before.......shhhhhh
That would be great if they accepted the fact that for all of us its just not the nic.
Adding it to the present NRTs I'm sure would increase their success rate.

There's really no reason to expect Stonewall and snus to differ from a tobacco standpoint. Stonewall is cured and sweetened in a special way, but is 100% percent tobacco at its core. Snus is 100% tobacco that has been specially processed and pasteurized to food grade. Both represent excellent, highly desirable harm reduction alternatives to smoking.

Star Scientific does not use sugar, by the way, but an artificial sweetner that freaked out one of their forum posters, but has high marks from the scientific community. Compared to smoking risks ... ha ... the sweetener is a non-player.

FYI: Two new flavors for Ariva are out and my shipment arrives Tuesday. The newest are cinnamon and citrus. I ordered a carton of each. Ariva is 1.5.mg of nicotine; Stonewall is 4mg.

I love my dissolvables. My favorite flavor (and strength) is Ariva Wintergreen; Java is tasty but a bit too sweet for me. Stonewalls are too strong, I just cut them in half. I find that they work just as well as snus, I use white portion minis. Dissolvables are also easier to use on the go as they are completely unobtrusive and undetectable, just like a lozenge. A little Ariva lasts me up to an hour--I don't move it around my mouth at all, just plant it in one spot and leave it alone.

Thank you Tropical Bob for introducing me to them. Next stop--CigRx. Any info an when it will be out?

Got my shipment of the new Ariva flavors. Kind of a mixed bag to me. The "cinnamon" is far and away the worst. Now, I love cinnamon and hoped for a Dentyne chewing gum or Red Hots/Atomic Fireball kind of flavor. Wrong. It tastes like insecticide. And how do I know what insecticide tastes like? I used to spray mosquito killer in my bedroom at night, some spray would land on my face and I'd taste and smell it for awhile.

Ariva cinnamon is a dead ringer for that taste. Yucky. I now face consuming the entire carton.

However....

The Citrus is really good. It's orange flavored, and delivers the usual 1.5mg of nicotine. Also excellent is a new one called Mint. Mint and Wintergreen are different, and the mint is far more like an after-dinner treat. In fact, it's the only product I know of that freshens the breath and delivers a nicotine dose.

I used it last night after a big eating-out dinner.

If it's okay to have a cup of coffee to finish dinner, if it's okay to have an after-dinner alcoholic drink to relax, why isn't it okay to have a small shot of nicotine (caffeine's sibling)?

I picked up some more Stonewalls this week. They had been out of Java and ordered some more. The price is up a dollar on the Javas. Still 1.99 for mint and regular but 2.99 for Java. Not sure if demand is driving it at my local shop or if their cost is up...
I cut them in 1/4's and carry them in a contact lens case with a couple of mini mints in the other side. I got my Dad to try them so maybe I can get him off his Winstons. I can hope.

I remain a faithful user of Star Scientific dissolvables -- and am even getting used to the bug-killer taste of Ariva Cinnamon. There is a third new flavor, also, that I forgot to mention. I did order and test it: Mint.

This really is like using a breath mint. It works great first thing in the morning, or after a meal or snack. Still, it's only 1.5mg and I need my 4mg Java Stonewall after dinner, to go with a coffee.

I've been ordering these from Lil Brown Smoke Shop in Washington, but that comes to a screeching halt soon with PACT implementation. I got a warning from Lil Brown yesterday that my products will no longer be sent a short time from now.

I'm screwed. Pure and simple. Local shop just can't keep up the way a big online player can.
