Snus is spitless. And your lower gastrointestinal tract can absorb nicotine in saliva that you swallow, so nothing goes to waste!

But ... if you have unpleasant side effects and find they are persistent, then snusing is not for you.

I got an email today that General is introducing the strongest snus ever: 15mg of nicotine per piece. Since I get ill at the 6mg level, I cannot imagine a 15mg snus! OMG. 8-o

Sounds dangerous. Are people building their tolerance for nicotine and chasing the dragon so to speak, looking for the nicotine buzz they got initially? More nicotine means more of the bad health effects that the drug causes. That's why I refuse to use anything other than high dose liquid for my e-cig. Sure the 36mg might make my head spin, but I'm more worried about what it might do to my arteries.

It will be dangerous for some people. Anyone with a borderline heart condition, for instance, should stay far away from heavy use of nicotine.

But my favorite snus forum has its share of what I call "hairy shoulder" users. These are the he-men who brag of using two Nick and Johnny's at the same time, or three Skruf Starks. They just can't get enough nicotine. It's juvenile and dangerous; not to mention even a steady increase in nicotine consumption can boost nicotine dependence so that you keep needing more and more and more.

It's nuts -- and I have no desire to grow hair on my shoulders!

I've just seen the new Northerner energy snus - 6mg nicotine; caffeine; taurine; guarana and even baking soda to keep your teeth shiny white!!:D Each pouch supposedly has the equivalent of a cup of coffee too!

Seems to be another wise snus from what I can make out... don't know if it might be a bit much though?! I already find the 6mg wise strong enough without the added extras so this one's bound to blow your socks off! 8-o

I ordered the Energy Snus the first day it was made available. I reviewed it on the snus forum. It's supposed to taste like honey, but I dubbed it 'Bit-O-Nasty'. The taste is dreadful, IMO. I did finish a tin of these, however, and grew more comfortable with their unpleasant taste as time wore on. But I will not reorder.

From a "kick" standpoint, Energy Snus didn't do much of anything for me. I expected heart palpitations, etc. These things not only have 6mg nicotine, but have caffeine, taurin and guarana.

I've also used the Power Elyxer stuff and it just has to be the nastiest tasting snus on the planet. It's supposed to contain the caffeine of two cups of strong coffee, plus the kick of multiple cigarettes. One user -- only one -- swears by it to start his day. I could not tolerate that taste first thing in the morning. I used up my tin over time, mostly using the things cautiously in late afternoon -- and when I could quickly replace one with something tasty, like a Java Stonewall tablet.

I would much prefer snus makers turn toward promoting health while providing nicotine. We don't need a coffee substitute when real coffee is better! But there are substances that could be absorbed via the mouth (like my B12/folic acid sublingual liquid) that could help us while satisfying our addiction to nicotine.

Even though Energy Snus is made by Wise and is rated at 6mg, it did not have nearly the effect on me that Wise Wine&Chef had. There is something about that tasteless Wine&Chef that no other snus seems to have. The kick is quick and very heavy. Like "throw up" heavy! Energy Snus is not like that -- thankfully.

Okay TB thanks - I think I'll definitely be avoiding that one for sure!:p

Good idea with the B vitamins - I take them every now and again too... although some of the pills I take have given me a pretty intense niacin flush a few times which is a fairly interesting experience! Basically, once your body has surpassed it's niacin limit and reached saturation point, the excess causes your skin to dilate. This mean't most of my body turned bright red and skin felt like it was burning up - like a pretty severe heat rash, which was quite off putting when it happened especially as I didn't have a clue why!

Anyway, the flush is actually harmless and a good indicator that your body has its quota of niacin so all good really.

Putting 250mg of niacin into a pouch of the 6mg wise snus now that could be quite an intense experience!! 8-o

I've been lurking here for a while - this is my first post. I recently quit smoking in favor of e-cigs (got a couple 901's from puresmoker as well as an njoy Npro). I have used Snus off and on for the last year or so. I recently placed an order for a couple of my favorites - General Onyx and General Wintergreen. I also ordered a tin of Catch Eucalyptus. These all came from Swedish Match. I'm going to place another "variety" order with Northerner to build up a supply, probably including 1847, Lucky Strike, Offroad Coffee / Vanilla, Mocca Mint, and Skruf Stark for when those cravings hit...

I love snus! I've been snusing for about 2 years now and have tried many brands. I'll tell you guys my personal faves. I started off with pouches (Skruf, Knox, Offroad) but, rapidly moved to loose snus (Lös). My favorite, so far has been Kardus, which is now discontinued. I currently use Röda Lacket and Probe. If you're looking for another 'safer' way to get your nic fix, you could do a hell of a lot worse than getting some snus. I buy from Buysnus and they have been really good to me. Check them out!

Tbob, read your threads on snus and my husband had been try to get me to try his skoal. Look all over town could not find any snus, pouch of any kind. Did not want to just order one can online. So I cut up a tea bag and folded it up with a bit of skoal inside and it worked real good. It does take a bit of getting use too.

My grandmother dipped Garrette snuff and lived to be 97 should have took after her and never smoked.

Only a few tobacco stores in the U.S. sell imported snus. Most of us order from Sweden, either from Buysnus or The Northerner. I'm lucky to live near one of Florida's stores that sell snus. But I mostly order online, because local stores have limited quantity. I can't imagine Skoal in a teabag! Yikes. Skoal is coming out will real snus, however, but I'm not sure when your local stores will sell it. I've tried it and liked it a lot. The cinnamon flavor is delicious. I like the Camel Frost, too.

Here's a locator map for where Swedish Match snus are sold in Texas stores: SwedishSnus.com by Swedish Match

I haven't put in a pouch for a wee while now - I suppose I've just been so content with vaping that there hasn't been a need... Still have a few cans in the fridge though for those special snus moments! My special treat is the montecristo, but only on those very rare occasions as it's a bit messy being loose - definitely a home job! Very nice mellow flavour to it and not the over potent variety so gives a nice steady nic release... nice :thumb:

Both Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta use Cuban tobacco. Cuban tobacco (supposedly) is not allowed in America, so you (sometimes) encounter problems ordering it. Heck, both are too expensive anyhow. Romeo y Julieta Senorita is excellent, but too pricey.

I often get no tax on some items, tax on others. I never know why.
