So I have been vaping for around 2 years, starting way back with the Joytech starter kits (when they were $120 and had those little "Black & Mild" style tips). Since I have been using tanks, I have always used 2.0ohm attys/coils, but now I have switched to the ProTank 3, while still using the 2.0ohm coils. Today after getting frustrated trying to remove the little cap on the Evod style element to access the flavor wick, I through it out and put in my last 2.0 I had on hand and decided to order a batch of new coils. I purchased the newer version, with the longer posts like the AeroTank has, but at 1.5ohms! I'm excited to see how I like them, but I wanted to see if anyone around here uses the 1.5 DC's, and their opinions. (From my understanding, 1.5omh DC's run in parallel, so it's actually going to produce a 3.0 resistance, correct?)

Anyway- opinions? What am I to expect jumping down .5ohms? I know I will be vaping at a lower voltage, but what is the general consensus regarding this lower resistance?

Thanks in advance, this site is so fantastic!

Hey, jumping down to a little bit lower ohm is going to be a tiny bit different, but you probably aren't even going to notice it depending on what device you are currently using. If you're using it on a mechanical, then yeah, it may very well be a bit warmer vape. Also, make sure the wicking ability is there for a coil rated at 1.5ohm, you're getting pretty low, and its going to burn off quickly. Tighten up the airflow on your carto/tank if you have that ability. The tighter airflow will help force more liquid into the atomizer when you're inhaling. But... if it's on a regulated device like a vamo, or zmax, then you probably aren't even going to be able to tell any difference.

And when you have a dual coil head rated at 1.5 ohm, it's going to be a 1.5ohm coil. It's not added up like you said for each of the coils, the collective resistance is 1.5ohms. If I may reccomend what I did, when I was using protank heads, was rebuilding the heads. Its super easy, you just take them apart , rebuild the coil and put them back together. That way you have all the free range to build whatever ohm you want, and discover exactly what ohm works best on your setup! Good luck and happy vaping!

Thanks for the info, sorry for the double post but it showed up after my earlier post. I am using a Vision Spinner VV 1300mah, so from what you're saying there really won't be much of a difference? ... Dang, was hoping maybe a little more flavor or something. Oh well, gotta try it... been stuck in my ways for too long now!

Thanks again!!!

I edited my post and added a little bit more to it - if you want to go up and review it again too!

But yeah, on a spinner, its regulating the voltage sent to your coil so I doubt you will see too much difference. At least this is how things usually worked from my experience. That's why mechanicals are cooler than they sound at first. They really bring out the differences in different ohm coils.

Thanks for all the info Dlipford, though I am not really into the mech mods yet lol. I do have an Air Flow Control Valve, so I can tighten up the draw however I need. I'm figuring I will just need to bring the voltage down a bit, as right now with the 2.0 I am vaping between 4.2-4.6, depending on the juice. Love the rig, and have always loved the eGo style setups, so I won't be making a change anytime soon. (I've know I said I'm stuck in my ways and need to mix it up, but not quite ready to move to the mech-mods). Again, thanks for all of your help, can't wait to try it out and mess around with different voltages and such. I will look into building my own coils, along with mixing up my own flavors once I find a place to settle down... just left my wife, so moved 1400 miles away to get a fresh start, but haven't found a place to purchase, so until then I currently don't have the space I would like to do such DIY projects.

*Edit* Thanks GreenEyes, seems you and Dlipford are leading me to a preemptive conclusion- won't be a huge change. Oh well, had to give it a shot :p!

Get a kayfun lite plus and put a 1.5 coil in it. You'll get tons of flavor - I have a 1300 spinner and it works great at 4.0v. I just built a sub ohm .8 ohm over the weekend and threw it on my k100 with a sony 18650 battery... Holy crap that sucker blew clouds and had flavor for days. I get cloud chasing now as I haven't touched my pro tanks since.

Real quick, on that note, the kayfun does look interesting, may check it out soon though I really find the PT3 suits my needs just fine. When it comes to sub-ohm builds, I am simply not in to cloud chasing, it honestly kind of bugs me (here comes the flaming lol), I just like a good throaty hit, something a little larger than a drag off a cig. Thanks again for the info though, first time I have really looked in to the Kayfun line.

This is going to come across as snarky, which I regret, but, you've been vaping for 2 years and you're not building coils? Build coils.

Don't worry about the snarky comment, no offense taken at all as I agree. Ive ben watching videos on building coils, and understand the basics, but fear my eyesight and shaky hands will keep me from being successful. I will try it soon though, as its a pretty cheap project regardless of success or failure.

Thanks for the comment.
