So do you consider yourself a "smoker"?

I don't identify myself as a smoker anymore but I've never thought to declare myself as a non-smoker. I'm not necessarily proud of my vaping. I'm still using nicotine, I still carry an active addiction so I think that if I actually tried to identify myself as a non-smoker, I would be implying to myself that I'm proud of my vaping. (which is cool if you do!)

I think of myself as a guy who made a better decision. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone else or not :)

Nope, I am not a smoker anymore, I am still addicted to nicotine.

Eggplant, tomato, cauliflower and potatoes all contain nicotine - I am not a vegetable

When burned, wood, paper, incense, cigarettes, etc, will make smoke - I no longer make smoke, so I am not a smoker

When using a heated atomizer with nicotine liquid, nicotine vapor is produced - I do this, therefor I make vapor happen, thus I am a nicotine vapor.....and when I quit the nicotine, I will simply be a vapor;)

No. To quote the iVape motto, like many before me in this thread. "I don't smoke, I vape". There is no smoking involved with a PV. It's like calling somebody who is addicted to caffeine and has 6 cups a day an alcoholic. There's no alcohol in coffee(unless you put it there haha), so that person can not logically be called an alcoholic.

It took me awhile to mentally separate myself from being a smoker. Now, you bet, I'm a non smoker :) first three months tho, not so much. I wasn't smoking, I guess I just still felt like a smoker? Lol I dunno. When I stopped smoking it felt too easy, I felt like I cheated at quitting smoking... Maybe that's why it took so long for me to call myself a non smoker. :)

It makes perfect sense to me. How many of us would be vaping if we didn't start out as smokers? My guess is zero. So unless we make peace with it there is always going to be a nagging sense that it still has a hold of us. I've been cig-free only a week so I also have no idea what I'm talking about.

I don't smoke. If someone 'tells' me I'm a smoker I'll say no, but I .........e excessively. I will and occasionally do say these things. You don't have to beat someone with a baseball bat when it's so easy to horrify them.
Stupid people are the problem and this country is packed with idiots. Kind of like the Congressman who said the earth is 9000 years old a few days ago. 'People' elected this idiot and he's making laws for America. "Evolution is an idea from the pit of hell." Guess what bozo, there is no hell. Even if there was I want to go there for the company and not heaven for the weather.
I'm not overly concerned with the health effects of vaping other than chipping a tooth with this steel drip tip. I inhaled car exhaust for over 40 years. What, is Ecto Plasma going to turn my liver green?

Because doctors are well educated to know what smoking is, burning something and inhaling the fumes. If this doctor didn't know what smoking was, I would drop them in a heart beat.

I've been a vegetarian for 20 years so I am well-acquainted with how uninformed health professionals can be about basic facts that are well established and freely available to anyone on the internet. I'm pretty sure this one will make my doctor squirm uncomfortably, but hey, I can take some measure of entertainment in having to educate someone who has a hell of a lot more education than me.

First off, congratulations on kicking the cigarettes!

I don't consider myself a smoker, and maybe that's part of the thing for me - I don't ever want to have to call myself a smoker again. I do enjoy vaping, and while my end goal is to cut the nicotine, just because I hate needing it, I'm not terribly concerned about that at the moment. I don't smoke, I feel a thousand times better, and I'm not stinking up everything around me.

I wouldn't say I'm proud of vaping, but I take every chance I get to tell people about it. Even people that don't smoke probably know someone that does, and wants to quit. I vape all around downtown when I'm out. No one's asked me about it yet, but I'm waiting for the day!

As for your doctor - if they really do disapprove of something that keeps you away from a known killer substance, then their head's not on straight. Not every medical professional is necessarily well informed about everything they should be.

Whatever keeps you off cigarettes is a good thing. If someone disapproves, it's an opportunity to educate them.

One thing I found was the more I enjoyed vaping, the less I wanted a cig. Own it, take the time to enjoy it, and you'll never want to go back.

I'm not a smoker - and I prove it to myself almost every day. I've been off cigarettes for two and a half months now, and unlike others here, I still like the smell, and I still want one. Just an hour ago, I wanted a cigarette (hope that urge stops eventually), but I didn't smoke, although I have a full sealed pack in my car, which is parked less than a minute away from me.

About two months ago, my coworker said something to the affect of "you're getting nicotine, so it's just like smoking, isn't it?". I told him that when you .........e, you're getting an orgasm, so it's just like sex. That's my argument.

Here's how it goes. Let's use something other than Nicotine for this example, shall we??

As "smokers" what we sought was nicotine. The carcinogens and chemicals we ingested came as an unwelcome by-product of our habits. As in the H example above, all that has changed is the method of delivery - we're now using clean nicotine, not a source contaminated by a whole host of nasty stuff.

So no - I haven't quit - I'm no less of a nicotine junky - "smoker" - than I ever was. That will probably piss a few people off, people who like to trumpet that they have "quit" using e-cigs. They haven't - but they most certainly have achieved the most important part - they've got rid of the only part of a cigarette that'll kill you - and surely, that's what it's actually about??

I consider myself a non-smoker, I don't buy cigarettes there is nothing burning to create smoke, if I couldn't vape I wouldn't go back to cigarettes they stink. When I started vaping I was using 36mg now I'm down to 4mg I don't think of nicotine any more addicting then caffeine now that I'm not consuming it with 4000 other chemicals that made it more addicting

I smoked my last death stick 1-20-12! I am a non-smoker and proud to be so. I vape 6mg juice all day long every day. I started with 24mg chainvaping like crazy. After 2 months I started weening down the nic content. I did get to 0mg, but I decided I wanted a bit of a TH so I went back up to 6. We do not emit any harmfull carcinogens, therefore we are non-smokers. I dont use a lighter, do you?

Or worse, is like having someone (who hates drinkers, or even 'social' drinking) telling someone who switched from beer to non-alchoolic beer 3 years ago that he is still 'drinking'... it RESEMBLES 'regular' beer, so, it MUST immoral, right ?? So, it's OK to quit beer with oranje juice, but if you quit with non-alchoolic beer, you're cheating, and you have no right to call yourself an ex-alchoolic... because 'fake beer' (unlike orange juice) still has MALT in it, and malt, UNLIKE alchool, is the root of all evil... go figure...

I quit two years ago. I no longer consider myself a smoker. I vape 0 nicotine in my Genesis Zap due to how I vape that atty. In normal atty's I vape at 18mg since zero nic in a normal atty does not give me the pulling sensation that I want in a normal setup. I believe I can go without nicotine now. As I have gone a week with 0nic in the Zap with no urges. I just can not do 0nic in a normal Atty like my 357's or a carto tank. It just feels like flavored air and I do not like the sensation.
