My Story: I quit analog cigs 100% and switched to vaping on 25 Feb '12. I initially started with 11mg nicotine, but quickly upgraded to 18mg, which has satisfied my cravings without turning me into a chain-vapor'er.

My Plan:
  • After a month + of vaping at 18mg, I've begun to order 12mg liquid. (I still have enough 18 left over to mix for the next month, which should basically take me down to about 14-15mg.
  • Eventually (at about 3 months of only adding 12mg liquids to my arsenal): I should be down to 12mg on a steady basis, at which point I will start ordering 6mg liquids.
  • I have identified my flavorite juices: M-type, Black Honey Tobacco (from one local vendor) and Cherry Blossom and Watermelon (from another local vendor)... And I go for an occasional Orange flavor, or substituting Ry4 (as base-liquid). Sometimes I'll use Menthol (a few drops now and then) to break up the monotony, but it tends to cause everything else to have a menthol taste if you use-back the same cartos, so be warned. I usually mix these up in various proportions to get more subtle yet complex tasting 'flavored' tobacco blends. I have always loved pipe tobacco.

The whole flavor finding process has been very costly, and the flavors I found to be the most disgusting were Pina Colada, Coffee, Chocolate, and Carmel. The first month cost a bomb because I was experimenting with flavors and various cartos. I wasted quite a bit of money on bad/leaky/horrible tasting cartos and sickening flavors that made me feel like vomiting (the worst were coffee, and pina colada). I will never buy a smokymizer carto again (as the flavor of the carto overwhelms the e-liquid). I found the cartos I love, but our local vendor just doubled the price from $15 to $30 (for a box of 5). HINT: Invest in a syringe (pick one up at the local pharmacy, together with the fattest needle they have)...
  • After 4 months... I'll repeat the ordering process with 6mg (mixing my old 12mg stock with the 6mg)
  • After 6 months... I'll be doing the same with 0mg.
  • And finally... until my battery dies, I'll keep some 0mg on hand should I ever have a craving for a smoke, but otherwise, I'll be storing my smoking habit on a shelf somewhere.
  • Biggest question I have: What components can I actually get from overseas (that won't get confiscated)?

OH! And, please wish me luck!!

i'm also a 6-12mg vaper now. but i plan to go down to 6mg and eventually vape for fun after. i actually quit for 3 years but went back to smoking last november.

after having gone to the gym for 2 months now, almost daily, i decided to quit smoking again and just use e-cigs, in hopes that this will improve my cardio and endurance.

so this is my short story i'll do a write up on juices soon. i just mixed some doublers i got from australia.

I think TS main question is someone who has quit analog for vaping and then quitting vaping altogether..

I hear all the stories about people 'quitting' but isn't the objective to quit altogether with the help of e-cigarettes? If not aren't they just substituting one addiction for another? I don't consider giving up analogs in favor of vapor 'quitting'. And nobody should, as e-cigs have their own dangers with nicotine addiction being one of the biggest concerns. I think most of us tend to go a bit nuts with our nicotine levels once we think it's all good, and since there are such strong doses available.

Everyone who vapes (including me) tends to have this glassy eyed look. It's the first thing I noticed when I got into this.

The thing about e-cig as compared to analog isnt the nicotine...Nic isnt very likely to kill u be it in e-cig or analog..The killer in analog as we all know is the #@$!@$# ingredients added to it.

With nic, u are only scared of a OD which isnt very likely unless u're chain vaping on high nic juice..

And for the longest time, i'm still on 11mg/ml concentration..Highest i tried for 1 puff was 24mg/ml..Did 18mg/ml for 1 week or so but sold that bottle off as it was too harsh..

I bet there are many people who quit vaping, but i don't think you will get many responses. if i quit vaping i would try and stay away from a forum about it.

i have slowly weaned down my nic as well (@ 6- 8mg). there are not many studies on the effect of nicotine alone. nicotine is a stimulant and should be treated much like caffeine.

On the other hand anything you inhale is bad for you.
smoke, dust, flower, smog, vapor, any thing other than normal saline will effect your respiratory system. how much is unknown, I'm GUESSING vaping is a very mild irritant, a low risk compared to smoking.

In my personal quest to be healthier i have (mostly) stopped inhaling, i vape like i would smoke a cigar. i believe this is the best harm-reduction strategy that has worked to keep me away from smoking (9 months now).

will i every quit vaping, i don't know for sure. i think in the future
but i need to get my moneys worth out of my provari first :vapor:

In the 1st place, if you read the fine prints when you go on some of them sites, they will tell you it's not meant to be used as a smoking cessation device. It's meant to be use as a substitute. If I am .... about this, I would gladly tell you that I have no intentions of quitting my nic fix.
And I substitute my previous "4000+ chemical" habit with a "1 chemical" habit.

And if most ppl would agree, it's not the nic in cigarettes that makes you get stucked to it. It's those 4000+ chemicals.

If I forget my PV and go to work, I don't feel compelled to go to the coffeeshop and go: "Marlboro Reds! 1 packet please!"

I like the "glassy eyed" description.

I too started vaping to replace analogs.
I love the process of smoking, and if I can do it without causing any harm to my body, why not!?

No insomnia for me either. Sleep like a baby.
Took an atarax and slept for 14hrs, just woke up a short while ago.

Do you get vivid dreams when taking atarax?

I don't have any plan to quit vaping, I consider it a safe alternative to smoking. Like having coffee. I am cutting my nic but simply because I am beginning to prefer lower nic most of the time (I keep higher nic 18 for when I need it).

I don't plan to keep only 0 nic on hand, even if I get to the point I prefer 0 nic, because I did that for a few months, and in a period of severe life stress went for cigarettes, and ended up smoking again for 7 months after being cigarette-free for over a year while vaping. Even if I drop to 0 nic most of the time, I'll always keep some 18 on hand for when I need it. For me, every time I have quit smoking I have ended up starting again for some reason. And I quit MANY times in 23 years of smoking.

One of the things I like most about vaping though, is even with some nic, there is no reason I HAVE to quit. It takes the pressure off. If I quit the nic, fine. If I don't, that's fine too.

That's just how it is for me. I really don't mind having nicotine and there's no urgency to quit it.

I agree completely.

I love the process of smoking, the inhale, the throat and chest hits, the exhale.

Vaping allows me to do it with minimal harm *until proven otherwise* and a at cheaper cost yet more enjoyable in many ways.

I ordered DK JY4 with 18mg nic and I have no idea how much Nic does my current juices contains, nor do I even know if they are PG or VG based, the seller was not able to provide much info, but for a start up kit, it's good enough and it works.

I don't crave for analogs.
The Red Bull flavor stings my throat a lot more than the others though...

After trying out my 18mg, I will shed some light if higher or lower nic works better for me.
