After waiting a month to get my Smoktech Ace back from repair, I finally get it back, and a day after, and I decide to dip my toe into the deep waters of mechanical mods. Whoo... Here we go.

I just set an order for a nemesis clone with a kayfun clone for out and about and a patriot clone for when I'm at home. I went the clone route simply because if I decide that the VV/VW APV route is where I want to stay, I don't want to have an expensive bust, you know? But still, I think my choices were okay.

And know we play the game that everyone loves.

LET'S WAIT ON fastech!

It's all in what you prefer. I have two mechanical mods and several VV regulated mods. Given my preferences, I prefer using Provari's or one of the other VV mods.

I don't care for the voltage drop off of a mechanical mod as the battery drains. With the Provari, my last puff is as good as the first.

I like adjusting my voltage as I change flavors (in tanks), which I can't do with a mechanical. Folks will say, well use a Kick. Why do that when I have several regulated mods for that? If I had an All-Day-Vape, maybe a mechanical would suffice - but I don't. All day vape? How boring.

Mechanical mod has no built-in protection. My safety depends upon my knowledge and experience on proper mod & battery safety practices. With my regulated mods, the built-in protection keeps my mod from firing when there is a potential safety issue. Much safer than a mech.

You know me Bad, I run both all day every day but use my mechs for RDAs running subohm almost exclusively. What I don't understand is the growing trend of running something like a KFL+ on a mech mod, just doesn't make sense to me but different strokes for different folks and all that.

Personally, tanks run on my Duke or maybe my Vamo if they are Ego threaded. RDAs/RBAs run on my mechs...or sometimes my Duke if I'm in the mood to be pinned to the ceiling...lol. I will admit I like to use a Kick in my mech when running RBAs for some reason.

Great thing is, as long as you know how the device works, everyone has the option of tailoring their vapes exactly the way they want.

I did however just screw my KFL+ onto my Nemi and it's sleek, great look!

Just got my Stingray clone last night and I love it! Did a dual coil at .76 ohms on my trident and took a few puff of mount baker 12mg nicotine and had to take a break for a bit. Knocked me back real good. Dripper performs outstandingly better on the mech than my Provari. I'll save my Provari for my Genesis atty =] I have a few gennys laying around, but the dome is my new favorite. Dang its big though

If you are getting a productive vape from your VV/VW devices rock on.

Well agreed. I want to try the mechs out, to be honest, because I'd love to try my hand at building coils. I love the feeling of knowing that something I made was the reason my mod is performing so well. I will always keep my ACE. It is always going to be for when I'm out and about or where I don't want to lose my mech (shows mostly. Hardcore shows get rough) but I'm just excited to build my own coils.

I switched to mechs about a month and a half ago after over a year of using regulated devices. For me, mechs are all I use now. I have to go with the opinion that's there's just something about depending on a coil you built for the performance you want. But no right or wrong here. What works for you is the best choice.

I was worried about the change in performance as the voltage change when I first tried a mechanical. But all I noticed is the change in vapor production and not flavor. I mainly drip so I know what type of vape I am aiming for. But I also use my mechanicals with carto tanks and those small little clearomizers. I have a cheap aluminum m16 clone (10 bucks) with a 18350 battery and a Kanger tank I had laying around, and I take that combo (with a spare battery as backup) to work. It doesn't compare to my dripper setup but I get my fix and flavor.

Mechanicals aren't just for cloud chasing. Sometimes you just want something reliable, cheap, durable, and simple especially if you work outdoors. A mech with any standard non rebuildable does the trick. I don't worry about vape quality at work or when I am out doing things because I wasn't worried about smoke quality when I was smoking and besides I am doing something else.

At home it's a different story because that's when the hobby and enthusiasts factors come into play. At home I use both regulate and mechanicals... and I like to subohm so mechanicals are my preferred mod.
