Ive been vaping for about a month. Due to a ton of research and everything I think im finally ready to do things myself. What I plan on buying is this....

Set up...
Nemesis clone.
rocket v1
2 cent fuse
18650 batteries
battery charger

For atomizer...
28g kettle wire (or whatever its called not entire sure)
Organic cotton
multi meter

For juice...
vg/pg
Lorann flavoring
100mg nicotine

How does this set up look? Am I missing anything? Would you recommend anything else? Or perhaps a different product?

As of now I dont have anything mechanical I just have a protank and vision spinner

Also because of money issues I prefer a tank rather than a drip tip. Is it possible to use the rocket as a drip tip by just hitting the atomizer directly rather than filling thr tank to test out juice flavors?

I'm a little confused by this, are you asking if it can be used as an RDA? Since it is a kayfun clone with alot of changes, I'd be more inclined to say no but people have setup their kayfun as an RDA sucessfully. I'd suggest looking at the rebuildables forum on here for more information.

When I started to DIY, I went and found about 10 recipes I wanted to try and then ordered all the flavors and then the nic and VG (I don't use PG because it irritates my throat). I ordered about 500ml total on my first order, and that should last me another 7 months or so all for a total of about $50. I would also suggest you check out the eliquid DIY forum as well, as there is PLENTY of information and people there to help you get on your way.

Also, I'm assuming you are looking at fasttech, but also check out their RDAs. You can almost buy two RDAS for the price of the rocket, and they have some pretty cheap mech clones as well. Another good vendor is FOCALecig, and their shipping is a little faster than FT with roughly the same or cheaper prices. I have a maraxus clone with trident clone RDA and a caravela clone with an omega clone rda, spent about $50 between them from focal and I still use my protanks and davides, I just build the coils in them vertical instead of horizontal to get a different taste and help with flooding/gurgling.

Also the wire is called kanthal, though some use nichrome wire. It seems like you understand d the concepts and now you just need to learn the hands on portion. I'd recommend going overkill and buying the Sony VTC4 or VTC5 batteries that are rated 30amps and maybe find someone local to help teach you how to build your own coils.

Also, I order my liquid diy from wizard labs. They have great prices and fast shipping but there are other vendors out there for diy as well. Remember to start off small, since you are still in the learning curve. There is plenty of support here on the forums for just about everything!

@myroman

Thanks whats the difference between the two wires? When building my own coils im looking at going about 2.0 ohms just for safety reasons. Also thank yoy for the battery recommendations I wondered what type id need. I plan on buying what is it IRM? Thats protected. Mech mods make me a little uneasy as you do have to constantly watch out and be aware as to whats going on. I dont plan on trying to cut costs with the batteries. So once again thank you!

It's IMR and Yea that's what you want. After you get used to a mech it's almost second nature as to what's safe and isn't safe. If you are wanting to stay around 2 ohms I'd suggest to get a VV/VW device instead of a mech, main reason being that on a mech with 4.2 volts at 2 ohms you will be below 9 watts, but I like high watts. I generally stay between .4 ohms and .7 ohms for a wattage around 20-30, but anyways, with a VV/VW device you could go higher in wattage with a 2ohm coil.

And Idk much about nichrome, I just know that people use it. I THINK that the higher gauge nichrome has less resistance than its kanthal counterparts. I'm on my phone or else I'd link you to some more info, but searching the forums or Google might turn up some good results on nichrome.

...I have a maraxus clone with trident clone RDA...
Not to hijack this thread, but you're the first person I've seen mention the Maraxus clone. I have one on its way, is it nice?

On topic, I just want to say I agree with mvroman about the RDAs. If you can rebuild a rocket you can certainly rebuild a Trident or Omega clone easily enough. My Trident was the first thing I ever put a coil on and I love it, makes it real easy to try out flavors and gives you a ton of great flavor because of the larger air hole options.

I love the maraxus but ordered a caravela to take its place in my rotation. It's just too big and pointy to carry in my pocket.

One little note about your shopping list. Though you'll pay a tiny bit more this way, I'd recommend you start off you juice DIY with 60mg nic -- and not 100mg. Unless you have a full on lab in your basement, 100mg is just too risky to play around with. And even with 60, be careful not to get it on you, and keep it locked up and away from pets, kids, etc. Just saying. And I agree that wizard labs is a good way to go -- as is myfreedomsmokes.

Personally, I'd skip the Lorann flavors. They're kinda meh. Some are OK, but most that I've had have a chemical funkiness to them. I'd go with the cheap 8ml TFA (The Flavor/Perfumers apprentice) flavors from wizard labs to start, but I'd also take a look at the Flavor Art flavors from RTS Vapes. They're a bit more expensive, but those flavors are BALLS. Every one I've tried has been spot on for flavor. Meaning, the snozberries taste like snozberries.

Watch out for "custard notes" though, if you're worried about it - that's the stuff you might not want prolonged exposure to, i.e. acetoin and/or acetyl propionyl. The flavor peeps use those ingredients to replace diacetyl, which has been shown to cause bronchial/pulmonary issues from prolonged exposure. The replacements may have the same effects though, so do your research.

EDIT: Flavor Art has a complete line of flavors JUST for vapers. They have NONE of the potentially problematic custard note ingredients.

The Sony VTC4 and 5's mentioned earlier are some of the newer high amp batteries. Frankly if you are going to be building 2 ohm coils and using a Variable Voltage (vv) / Variable Wattage (vw) device...then you'll realistically only need a good Panasonic 10amp battery, like the CGR18650CH. Check out RTD Vapor for battery selections. Should you ever want to get into sub-ohm coils (lower than 1.0) ...then something like the Sony 30 amps are what you'd want.

But the price difference is nearly negligible so it makes more sense to spend the extra $2-4 now instead of buying all brand new batteries later.
