It's been a while since I've seen my friends - now many of them have young ones of their own (and so do I.. one of the most definite reason to switch from analogs to vaping), so it's become much more less frequent than when we all had babies.
Anyhow... we had very nice weather in NYC area - was supposedly about 75 degrees with clouds, but ended up being high 80's to low 90's (at least what it felt like). Some clouds, but not enough to block the sunshine at all. Not too much of humidity, and it was a great bbq'ing day, if you could find a little bit of shades.
Today was my first time meeting them since I started vaping 45 days ago. As I wrote on this forum a couple days ago, at the moment, I am stuck with an Screwdriver, and with only one good battery and no back-up e-cigs. (I sold my 3 e-cigs last week.) I know that the battery would last me at least 6 hours for me - but I was getting little worried... so I had to make sure that the battery is fully charged, right upto the moment
Anyhow, most of my friends are smokers. Couple of them are very "occasional" smokers - I'd say a cig in a week or two, if not months. They have never heard (well heard, but not seen) an e-cig before... and what they saw the first is apparently my Screwdriver. (LOL)
They all took a short (like most smokers) draw and somewhat little vapor - but they were all telling me that they understood that e-cigs could replace analogs all together, commented about the flavorings and sweetness that they didn't exactly like the flavorings... etc... but mostly not too convinced of the look. (One has mentioned that it looked something illegal... mentioned the starbucks bombing in NYC, and it was rather funny to see him saying that, as he's one heck of weed enthusiast.
)
For that reason, I wish I had one of my older mini/super minis like 901 and 4081, that I could have convinced them more throughly... A friend's wife told me actually, that my SD looks pretty cheap.
I didn't get too indepth with anything - but I do plan to e-mail my smoking friends about e-cigs, especially ones who was little more enthusisastic about it.
I was actually shocked that few of them didn't really know what's exactly bad about analogs, although they all know that analog is bad for the health. (ie, Nicotine is not necessarily a bad substance, and it's all the tar and chemicals that are causing pretty much all the harmful effects) At that moment, I thought that if e-cigs needs anything to promote itself- it's more of education of the public regarding Nicotine and what it does to your body, separate from cigarettes.
Finally, for s**ts and giggles, I bummed off a coupled draws from their usual Marlboro Reds.
..
I will never, ever do that again. It tasted so horrible, I had to reach out my SD with flu-cured to cleanse my pallette. Dayummm!! Once, I was in disbelief on the how horrible it tasted like, and 2nd just to confirm that I wasn't mistaken or what not. 2nd time tasted just as bad. I just couldn't believe that I was smoking such horrible thing for past 15 years or so.
So in the end, my SD with 1 battery, held up to my 6+ hour bbq session. To be sure, I wasn't vaping all the time - but when I had to, I vaped several puffs, then put away into my pocket. I normally have 5-10 min vaping session in every 1-2 hours at work - but today, I just did a little couple puffs whenever I felt like. So until my re-inforcement batteries do come later this week, the wosrt part is actually over... so my SD served me well for whole day with no sign of giving up, which I'm glad.
But if you do want to convert any of your smoking friends into the world of vaping... I suggest to show them with something more fashinable like your mini.
