So before this thing is finalized and released...
Just thought I'd make a suggestion...
Was thinking that maybe as far as batteries go that you might want to take a look at some of the newer high drain safe chemistry LiMN batteries such as AW IMR18650 1600mAh LiMN rechargeable lithium battery

or those in the CR123 size: AW IMR16340 550 mAh IMR CR123 size LiMN Rechargeable Lithium Battery

Granted the batteries are harder to find...but if they're the best quality batteries we can find...and generally safer for the way we're using them...can we work toward the dimmensions being able to fit those?

Those are same size as the 18650s and cr123s that we use now so they will work regardless ;)
Yay for safer batts tho!

yeah I kinda get the sizing now that as far as 18650 goes the 18 is supposed to mean 18mm diameter and the 65 means 65mm long...
But theres so much variance in batteries still....and I'm not seeing any measurements of dimmensions on these...
Mainly I really like the sound of these high drain LiMN batteries and the fact that well the high drain sounds like they were made to function exactly how we're using them..

So I guess I'm mainly asking that before David totally finalizes the design that he look at the posibility of these and that they would work since it looks like a positive direction to move toward

Why is the MAH so low on these batts ?????

they're high drain ones too...theres a thread somewhere else on the board here about these and someone has tried em out on a double barrel SB and he's saying that he thinks that they're under rated..that they last him just as long as the 2300 mAh 18650s but because the way they're made and the chemistry involved the way we use them they just arent gonna pop...I think that thread is in the altsmoke subforum (I think) thread is called something like 6volt isnt the answer..high drain is...or something along those lines

Edit: the way I've seen it explained is what the output rating is like 1C where something rated at 1800 mAh... you could pull 1800 mA in an hour..where these are rated at like 10C ..so in theory you could discharge all 1800 mA in about 6 minutes without any damage to the battery (if you had something that would drain them that fast)

Just thought I'd add my wishes for the big batt mod. i'm sure that david already is considering this stuff, but still...

I would like to be able to use a RCR123A or an 18650 depending on the situation, and have it be as small as possible in each case. I would love a removable sleeve or something to accommodate the different battery lengths.. I personally am not a fan of the GGTS because of the extra size that is there every time you use it. I'd rather keep track of an extra piece and have the unit as small as possible when actually in use or in my pocket.

For me, ergonomics is possibly even more important that size. I have a SB and found a way to hold it thats more like smoking and less like drinking a beer and it made a huge difference for me. If I can hold the upcoming mod in a way so that its balanced over my thumb and i can still fire it then its pretty weightless to me and i care much less about the size. If theres a way to give the unit good balance with both a RCR123A and an 18650 that would be awesome! I already trust that the unit will be as small as it can be.

I can't wait for my precise and if the big batt mod can do what i wished for the SB is so getting gifted or sold!

One more thing...
Given the big to-do currently about mod safety and the new rules that ECF is talking about possibly putting in place you might also want to think about bringing back the locking switch idea and putting it on this big battery mod..

in essence in case you havent caught it...because people are stupid...and because of the most recent incident of a battery explosion in a chuck... RolyGate is talking about ECF possibly instituting interm safety specifications for mods until an independant safety commitee could be formed...and any mod that wants to be advertised on ECF would have to be proven to meet these safety specs...so it might be best to be at the forefront of this..

Sounds like it's time to move to another forum.

Not bashing mods or ECF policies but once the restrictions start, well....

If no one would have ever had a problem and posted about it, we wouldn't know what to look out for. I think the unfortunate mishaps are educational for others.

It's the responsibility of the end users / purchasers to handle the batteries in a safe manner.

There are postings all over the internet about the dangers of lithium batteries (Gasoline too).
I've known it for years because I fly remote helicopters that use 12S / 50.4 v 10,00mah lipo's.

I've never had a single problem because I handle, charge and use them in a safe manner. Some do not and pay the consequences. Just like anything else in life.

oh I totally agree BrockJ...
I just assumed that David has been hard at work trying to get caught up and hence his limited pressence as of late..
So, I wasn't sure he had heard about the incident or what might be happening board wise..so it was more of a heads up and a mention that he might want to bring back the locking switch to get ahead of the game..
I honestly don't think it's going to go the way of ECF regulation....but you never know what may come out of this crapstorm..

somewhere out there......
I'm loving my S6... I'm trying to make a signature with both my favorite mods together but I'm having no luck... I ordered a new software program to let me create 3-D art. I'm hoping to create some really nice pics and also fuze pics together.

Anyway your doing a hell of a job and keep up the good work.... that precise is beautiful. If you can make that design for a 14500 battery I'll get it.... :)
