well, just from being a human being I KNOW that vaping artificial colors is not a good thing. I think I posted somewhere I'll never forget when my first watermelon juice showed up...............It was HOT PINK............the vape was awesome, but I couldn't help myself from putting it down.........I just knew that um, vaping HOT PINK was probably not the smartest thing to do.

I've tried organic & vg based watermelon from 3 different vendors now. I had this conversation last night with my husband actually. I love the watermelon vape/taste & the organic/vg juice is not as strong as the HOT PINK stuff, but it's good, & I like it.

UPDATE::
~So, I was able to start on vaping vg based flavored juices a week before I left for Vegas.
~In Vegas, I tried anything & everything (why not? , I was in Vegas)...........
~Since I've gotten home, I've received some organic & vg based juices from 3 additional vendors.
~One vendor that I LOVE that doesn't do organic or vg based flavors was kind enough to actually give me the recipe to DIY one of my favorite menthol juices. Lucky for me, I already had the flavors I needed for the recipe on order from NF.
~I'm currently waiting on 2 NF orders. The first one was ordered on 9/11, & the 2nd on 9/23. I called them yesterday & one of the flavors from the first order was out of stock. Both of my orders should be shipping today.
~I bought some organic butterscotch flavoring from a friend & was able to DIY 120ml of it. So, I know EXACTLY what is in that juice.
~I have not had palpatations since I started this experiment. However I am on stand-by, because I KNOW they can come without warning.
~I wish I could have a cardiac monitor in my house, so that if they do happen to come on, I could run a quick EKG & determine whether I am indeed in AFIB, or SVT.
____________________________________________________

~There are 2 vendors that sell organic, vg flavor based juices that I will never order from again.

1. The first one starts with a D, & he had been emailing me constantly, to the point that I put his email address as spam. This guy has google notifications that pop up whenever his company is mentioned. He wrote a negative blog post regarding ECF a while back, & after I had placed an order with them, I commented on it (basically telling him that as a vendor, it's probably not the smartest thing to do........to trash the worlds largest ecig community, a place that could bring him a ton of business if he plays his cards right) He has since deleted that blog post.

2. Another vendor that I had purchased from felt that the first time we met at vapefest that it was appropriate to comment on my breasts during moments of our meeting. Bam.............He just lost my business.

~~Although the reasons that I'm no longer dealing with these vendors in no way reflect on the quality of their juice, I've got money to spend, & I'll spend it where i'm respected as a paying customer.~~

Vaperite is still gonna be my go-to company, & Ahlusions is following a close second.

Excellent point here! I have noticed that alot of the companies that use an organic vg based flavoring definitely smell of etoh on arrival to my home. I have to steep them all for at least a few days. I don't notice that much evaporation (I thought I would notice quite a bit actually)

I honestly can't stand the scent of etoh in a juice. That is the only reason I try to steep it out :)

jen, all the flavors you got coming from nf will be alcohol based. i'm just starting to look at the watermelon again which was ordered 3 months ago .....

the only other option which might have been for the concentrates is an oil. can't think of the name offhand but definitely a no-no vape.
coldpressed flavors are hard to find and not all that robust. taking a fast look at ahlusion and only checking a few fruit flavors they also indicate a base of ethyl alcohol ....

I mixed up 100ml of vanilla, & 120ml of hibiscus from Natures Flavors tonight. I normally allow my DIY to steep for 3-4 days, but these i'm gonna vape starting this morning when I wake up. I've got banana nut bread & strawberry lemonade still steeping from a few days ago when I mixed it up (10ml of each)

I've had no palpatations or tachycardia since I last mentioned I had it in this thread (early September maybe?).

The organic DIY butterscotch is working well for me. I am using RTS nicotine 100mg/ml & Essential Depot USP VG. I mix at 30% flavoring to 6mg nicotine content.

My 2nd bottle of Ahlusion's Cantal-berry Ice arrived in the mail today. Fabulously in a glass 30ml bottle.
I'm still waiting on 1 more order from Nature's Flavors. Apparently one item I ordered was out of stock.

It gives me a sense of calm just to know that the flavoring I'm using is organic & VG based. Please God, let this keep working for me.

Yikes! I never read this section but came here to check on something unrelated and found this thread.

OMG Jen, take care of yourself! Sorry you're having issues and glad you're able to figure out what's causing it. Very frightening!

I've had a couple episodes where I couldn't sleep at all, never happened before I started vaping and could very well be related to nicotine strength. I don't vape a huge amount but I might order some lower nic.

I'm like you, pretty fit and run every day - and Zumba  and had a very heavy feeling in my chest. After experimenting, for me, it was the VG that was doing it. I felt like someone had their hand on my chest, a very heavy feeling from too much VG. That's what I "think" but who can really say. Could also be getting older and I gained a few pounds.

This thread is very interesting- learned a lot. Anyway, glad you figured out what it was--

Off to look up thyroid issues.

In another thread, Bovinia mentioned microwaving some of the nf for a short time to help dissipate the alcohol faster. Sounds similar to what's described here: How to Remove Alcohol From Liquid Herbal Tinctures | eHow.com

For me, I don't mind the alcohol since it just means I don't have to cut my 0PG blends with anything else to thin them.

If you do decide to try this, please note the bit about shelf life, and refrigerating any leftover. I'd probably limit this to using it right when I mix, not try to zap a whole bottle of flavoring at one time.

I use NF for almost all of my flavorings, been pretty happy with them. If you want mints, check out faeries finest; I picked up a 4 flavor mint sample pack.

Mark! Thank you for that link! My hibiscus tincure smells NOTHING like the hibiscus flavoring that I bought from Natures Flavors. I've got 240ml of hibiscus mixed already. I will keep the thread & suggestions in mind though. I do have a honeysuckle tincure that I could microwave though :). (mix that honeysuckle with some of loranne's natural blueberry, & i'd be all set!

Kinda sorta similar, but not really..but enough to add to this thread.

I was having lung issues, like I was in a bar all night. Responded to benedryl, so I knew it was allergy related. It took me a bit, but I narrowed it down to a specific flavor I was vaping. I took a couple weeks off from that flavor & revisited it again yesterday, woke up with that familiar feeling. So bumbed, it's one of my favorites, I DIY, FA watermelon is my culprit. But LorAnns with all that coloring doesn't bother me..go figure..TPA WM is ok too.

Jen,

Chart your days with palps/afib. I started having them in my mid 30's during certain times in my cycle, which correlated to low estrogen times. I got insomnia too during those times. I'm 47 now and they are still happening but much milder now. I had all the heart tests and my heart is good and my blood pressure is low. It might just the joy of peri-menopause:(

I'm a little too young for menopause, but thanks for your thoughts.

I've been vaping all vg, even vg based flavor, & organic flavor,& have not had any palpatations since the switch.

Just by mentioning my switch, i got another vendor on my bandwagon. Vixen vapors will soon have an organic vg line.

I'm glad you found this thread too torque guy. Like rolygate says, with more & more people making the switch, the more stories like this we will probably see.

I'm feeling great these days everyone! Thanks for chiming in!

just updating because I think the community should know.
I have had no negative symptoms from DIYing my own VG based liquid with flavoring from natures flavors. I am also purchasing my liquid from Welcome to Ahlusion's E-Liquid and Flavoring Market because they create their own flavors and are undergoing the USDA Organic certification. All is well. Even having AVE Hype in my Reo while i'm at work during the day isn't affecting me in a negative manner.

Please keep this thread going, newbies need to know that these risks are out there & it can happen to any of us at any point in time.

Very nice thread here. Thank you bmwjen for your due diligence. While we like to claim that vaping is healthier than cigarettes, I feel that with the amount of variety and uncontrolled nicotine liquid produced, vaping can be quite dangerous. And I think it is denial when people outright and wholeheartedly claim that it is 100% safe. I suppose a way to think about it is that the vaping community is doing private research with our own bodies as the test subject, so this research data should be shared. So this is a good thread.

I've ordered from Clouds of vapor but it is taking a very long time to get to me here overseas. I am going to try Virgin Vapors as well. Because I'm just recovering from being sick from I believe was some bad juice, it's put me off my excitement with vaping. I'm no longer looking forward to trying all of these great flavors. I just want some juice (and 1 wil be enough) that wont kill me.

Could you please list the juices that you recommend at this point.

Thanks

short update :) love & miss you guys so much!!! I still haven't had any problems since switching to all VG based, and organic flavoring.

Dale at V i x e n v a p o r s dot com is starting an all organic line. i assisted him in choosing his flavors.
Nik from SpringVapor.com will be starting an all organic line in the next few weeks.
Joe from Evaporclouds.com is also starting an all organic line. It's something he's wanted to do for quite a while, and he's had quite a few requests.

I hope to think that this thread has made some of the vendors "think". I know for certain that it has enlightened the vendors that I just mentioned above.

~edited to add that Joe at evaporclouds.com has some Fantastic looking flavors on his website. i'm like on my knees praying that he will be able to replicate some of his best sellers in his upcoming organic line~
