My weller solder pen is 20+ years old and has given good service but I am thinking about getting a solder station for more control and consistency. They seem to be priced from about $50 to the sky. I dont want to spend a lot since it wont be used daily. What are some things I should look for or look out for when shopping for a solder station? Weller is the only name I know and they are kinda spendy for a lot less capability than others I have seen.

Hakko are really good irons made in japan. You can get a 65 watt digital readout one for less then a 100 bucks. Other then that you can get China made ones for around 50 bucks with digital temp readouts. I got a cheap china made one a couple years ago and it still works fine. But if i had the extra cash i would have bought a hakko
